I was bored so I decided to check out what they were saying during the debate, especially about Bush's very obvious lies.
The level of denial over there runs deeper by the day.
They were all laughing and high-fiving each other when Bush responded to the statement that he said he wasn't that worried about bin Laden with "Gosh, I just don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. It's kind of one of those exaggerations." There was a lot of "go get him!" and "Kerry lies!" going on.
Heh. Oops.
There was a lot of bitching and moaning when Kerry said that Bush had reduced the Pell Grant. "No he didn't!" they screamed. A few asked why we don't just get rid of the Pell Grant, along with job training programs. Most were adamant that Bush had indeed increased the Pell Grant. Bush then responded by saying they had increased Pell Grants by a million students. Cheers from the peanut gallery. Wait - what was that? Kerry said that he only increased the NUMBER of people getting them because more people are poor now and qualify. The AMOUNT of aid has not been increased as promised. They of course miss the point and pat each other on their back about yet another Kerry flip flop.
Heh. Oops.
And on and on and on.
I couldn't help but note, besides how callous ("let's nix Pell Grants and job training!") and homophobic (use your imagination, it was disgusting) they are, why they're Bush supporters. They're hideously uninformed. They didn't even know Bush said that about bin Laden. They didn't understand or comprehend that larger numbers of people qualifying for Pell Grant's isn't something to be proud of. Someone actually posted a graph of personal income by state by the thousands... total... to support their claim that incomes have NOT reduced during Bush's administration.
http://www.bea.doc.gov/bea/regional/spi/drill.cfm?table=SA1-3&lc=100&years=2003,2002,2001&format=htm&sort=0It would be funny if it wasn't so ludicrous - the Census Bureau states that median household incomes fell in 2003. Yep, that's right, median household incomes. They missed it again.
Heh. Oops.
They of course thought Bush won - not just won, slam dunked - the debate. They think that last night's debate will win Bush the election. They were joyous and celebratory. They feel that their "prayers have been answered".
Heh. Oops.
