Is the GOP giving up on Wisconsin senate race?
In a blow to the campaign of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tim Michels, a national GOP group has canceled more than $1.2 million in television advertising that was set to run on his behalf in the coming weeks.

"At this current time, we are not putting the money behind the time we had reserved," said Dan Allen, a spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

"I think we're assessing the playing field on a day-to-day basis from state to state and we feel like we have a lot of opportunities, including Wisconsin," he said. "We also know we have limited resources."

The Republicans control the Senate by only a single seat and are locked in tough races in Oklahoma, Alaska and Colorado, and are expected to lose a seat in Illinois.

Kos has this as well. There is worry that the RNC will send the money to a more competitive race:

3. Is it possible we could pick up three or four Senate seats?
I'm very cautiously thinking it just may be so.

4. The WI seat is currently hel by Russ Feingold (D)
Many libertarian types will be splitting their vote in WI. Voting for chimpy and also voting for Russ becuase of his lone vote against the Patriot Act & his vote against the Assualt Weapon Ban renewal.

5. Only if we keep working HARD!!
For JK/JE - as well as for our Congressional and Senate candidates. It's easy here in Milwaukee, because after the primary they all combined into one big coordinated campaign.

6. ... expected to lose a seat in Illinois. ??????

They're "expected to lose a seat in Illinois." That's like saying they're expecting the sun to rise tomorrow morning!!!!

Put it in the Bank. Alan Keyes has imploded and he's EMBARASSING the Illinois Republicans DAILY. Thanks to Keyes, I think the Republicans will get ROUTED for years to come in Illinois. Hastert (Delay's bitch) came in and installed a "national" candidate that they THOUGHT would help Bush nationally. Instead, they've ended up with a giant fiasco that the state AND national GOP have to distance themselves from!!!!

7. No, they knew they'd lose to Barack...
...so they offered Keyes as a sacrificial lamb to their base. He'll get 'em all fired up and feeling victimized when he loses big. Keyes was no mistake. They made lemonade.

8. That seat was lost before Keyes even entered the picture
I mean, did they expect Ditka to win?

Ryan could have kept it a little closer, but I think Obama would have won regardless.

Keyes is just a placeholder.
