John Zogby on the direction of the election:
Pollster John Zogby:

"The two candidates go into the third and final debate tied. TIED!!! There is no major sub-group movement to report, but the undecided voters give us the real key to what is happening behind the scenes. Today's three-day track reveals that only 11% of the undecided voters feel that President Bush deserves to be re-elected. That is the lowest figure yet. Two in five -- 40%-- feel it is time for someone new and 49% are undecided about his future.

"The third debate is crucial.”

3. Only 1 in 10 for reappointing Bush
I'd say it's Kerry's to lose, and Zogby has been saying that for some time now.

6. I don't agree with the assessment that the debate was critical
I think the "likely electorate" is irrevocably deadlocked and wouldn't move if their candidate committed an act of cannibalism during the debate.

on the right are zealots, either single-issue anti-choice or gun-nut zealots, or delusional and ignorant so-called "conservatives" who root for the repukes like some face-painted wack job rooting for the local football team. Oh. And the 250 or so Americans the bushgang have actually benefited

on the left are those of us with triple-digit IQs.

50 - 50

It will take way more than a debate to change any of our minds.

Kerry has been more effective and expansive in his message, while the little bushturd has exclusively pandered to his base, but there just aren't enough people in the middle to make much of a difference.

More than any other election in my lifetime, this is truly a case of "us versus them."

7. CNN had a roomful of undecided voters watcing the debates
A small sample but when asked if this debate had changed anybodies mind and caused them to stop being undecided, 7 out of the group had finally decided because of the LAST DEBATE, that they were voting for Bush. Seven others still remained undecided. But 12 of the group decided that this last debate had convinced them to vote for Kerry.

CNN had similar groups (the same exact number of viewers) for the first two debates and asked the same thing after each one and in fact in both earlier debates only one or two people stated that thpse debates had made their minds up for them.

On the other hand, more than two thirds of the group who saw the last debate had their minds made up by it,

Though it was a very small sample, this debate had an effect that the first two did not.

Exactly as Zogby stated it would
