John Kerry did not "out" Mary Cheney....
The Repubs are acting all pissed-off about it but Mary's father, VP Dick Cheney has talked about his daughter more than once in public settings. No one thought bad of him when he mentioned his daughter or responded to questions about his daughter?? To listen tothe criticism this morning, one might think this was the first time the issue had ever come up. Lynne Cheney was especially peeved at Senator Kerry. The only explanation that I can see is hypocrisy and the desire to make it a campaign "issue", because they are becoming desperate??

1. But it was totally tasteless
Quite frankly - I found it offensive. Kerry's worst moment.

2. Wrong. Saying that Mary was one of God's children is NOT
a bad moment.

5. Please explain why chum??

Since Cheney himself has discussed it in public before? What did Kerry say specifically that you find so offensive?

8. Bah! I don't expect a reply from "chum"...
He/she has posted the same 1-line comment in several threads and never returned to reply.

6. She's trying to smooth things over with the fundies.
"Cheney gives tepid defense of marriage amendment"

http://www.bpnews.net/bpnews.asp?ID=19291

WASHINGTON (BP)--Vice President Dick Cheney’s tepid defense of a constitutional amendment protecting marriage during his Oct. 5 debate with Democrat John Edwards was certain to make supporters of such a measure glad George W. Bush, not Cheney, is president...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Southern Baptist equation of his religious base is not at all happy with him. Lynn Cheney's remarks are meant to stir up sympathy for the Cheney family, in having to deal with this *burden*. Bottom line: trying to have cake and eat it, too. I like Plaid Adder's take on it also.
7. Gee, Kerry didn't wig out when Lynne & Dick were talking about
his "orange" face to a campaign audience, and that was a really silly personal attack.
10. This is no more offensive than pulling Teddy Kennedy into this
debate repeatedly, and as an insult.
9. Where was Mom when Keyes called Mary a selfish hedonist?
Wasn't that "mean" enough to provoke comment? Lynne is practicing tawdry politics at her daughter's expense.
