If Bush thinks there's a choice involved, then when did he make his? |
|
I can't imagine Bush thinks his heterosexuality involved any conscious choice on his part. Then why isn't he equally certain that homosexuality doesn't involve a choice?
Personally, I think the only choice involved is whether to stay true to who you are, or whether to live a lie. And yes, there are plenty of people who make that second choice. But it rarely works out well.

To be able to reason in such a fashion, two skills are required: Self-awareness and empathy. Individuals suffering from narcissistic personality disorder (W=poster child of said condition) are in chronic short-supply of those requisite skills.

2. There's a poll in the Lounge that asks |
|
"Is heterosexuality a choice"?
I voted yes, but it isn't a sin unless you act on it.

I would have given anything to be able to choose. It isn't.

4. His ans. seemed okay to me. He didn't know, so he said so. |

And it doesn't matter to *, apparently. Why someone is homosexual is irrelevant to him, I guess.
I think it's okay when a candidate doesn't know something simply to say so. It's not proven yet either way, anyway, is it? I saw an article yesterday that lends some science to the "born with" theory of homosexuality, with early rearing influences, as well. But that's new and still not conclusive (and I think only referred to gay males - not sure about that, though).

If homosexuality is a choice, then heterosexuality would also have to be a choice.
Why would anyone choose to be discriminated against the way gays are in our society.

6. I don't think it's a choice, but I also don't think that should matter |

I hate men (well, not all of them, but you know what I mean). If I were a lesbian, I'd probably have better relationships because living with men pisses me off so much. However, I don't desire to have sex with women, I am attracted to men.

7. CHRIS MATTHEWS posed that very question |
|
...in rhetorical fashion, saying that Bob should have asked weewee that as a followup, to Tom Brokaw, who said he wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole!!!
But with all the rumors, maybe weewee never made a choice, and has sampled from the buffet in his dangerous and wooly youth....

8. That Is The Question, Mr. Dolstein |
|
And none of the people who seek political profit by attacking homosexuals has any answer for it. They do not dare speak of how they weighed the possibilities, and even wrestled against homosexuality, and decided to be heterosexual....
On a related note, it always amazes me how often such people, mostly men, declare angrily that they do not want a "homosexual agenda shoved down their throats!" It makes me wonder at times if they ever pause to listen to themselves at all....
