If the dems were smart, I would think this was a set up. BC04 didn't fall for it when Edwards did it, so they tried again.
Think about it. There can only be something wrong with Kerry identifying Ms. Cheney as gay IF there is something wrong with being gay. If there is nothing wrong with it, noting that characteristic is no different than mentioning her hair color - if he were asked a question about brunettes. The very idea that mentioning her orientation is "tawdry" depends on the assumption that her orientation is something shameful that should not be mentioned.

Beware of unintended consequences. Let's see how smartly this gets played.

Here's another good question. When JF'inK does it, it is a tawdry cheap shot. But when Edwards did basically the same thing, the VP thanked him for his "kind words." What's the difference?
