32. He was yelling over Clark, saying Kerry was trying to cut defense
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 12:57 PM by txindy
That JK had voted against all these systems -- and then he started naming them one by one. When Wes tried to respond, Hannity got louder and LOUDER (because that must have made his point stronger or something  ) until finally Wes got that edge of steel in his tone and said (paraphrasing), "Dick Cheney was the one who wanted those programs cut." Hannity was screaming at him. Colmes was bemused, smiling the whole time. IMO, he looked rather awed by Clark's determination not to be run over by Hannity.
My impression was that General Clark might be pumped up even more after that happy little encounter. :toast:

Edited to add: I only watched because I spotted Wes while channel-surfing between post-debate coverages.

6. Arkansas should be a Dem state.
They are a farm/agriculture state that has been a victim of corporate type farms.

7. Ohhhhh
how sweet it would be if the Big Dog could just do a few very low-key events there....nothing hard....nothing stressful, just a little laid-back meetin' with regular folks in Hope and Little Rock and Hot Springs and Fayetville and stuff like that.

But I know, he needs to take it easy.

Sigh.

This election is just getting better and better.

34. They need to set up some appearances via satellite TV
I think people in Arkansas (and all over) would appreciate the need for Clinton to rest and wouldn't feel slighted over a remote TV appearance. At a rally with other featured speakers, I mean. Not a commercial or anything, but just as a surprise at a regularly-scheduled rally. They'd probably feel honored that he made such a big effort to speak to them. I know I would.

20. It's been the case for months. Every once in a while there is some
poll that shows a wider margin, but, for the most part, we have been basically tied the whole time.

21. Heard on NPR that Wes Clark, Dale Bumpers, and another person
had agreed to "star" in Kerry ads if a group of Arkansans can come up with the money to run them. I can't find any specifics on who the group is or where to donate. I have heard, though, that the Repubs are trying to stop the group - saying it is illegal.

25. More info on the ads
Link: http://www.katv.com/news/stories/1004/178330.html

Little Rock (AP) - John Kerry's most prominent supporters in Arkansas are passing the hat to run their own radio ads urging people to vote for the Democratic presidential candidate.

The ads would feature former U.S. Senator Dale Bumpers, retired General and former presidential candidate Wesley Clark and former U.S. Transportation Secretary Rodney Slater.

Three dozen top Democrats want to raise more than $100,000 to produce the ads because money raised for TV ads in Arkansas went to other states instead. Arkansas was supposed to be a part of a $45 million advertising blitz this month, but the national Kerry campaign decided to concentrate its advertising effort elsewhere.

28. Democratic Party of Arkansas
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 12:38 PM by Sputnik
is raising the money for the radio ads by Clark, Bumpers, and Slater. If money permits, they'll also run newspaper ads.

Personal checks (no corporate checks) should be made payable to the Democratic Party of Arkansas, memo: Victory Fund. Their mailing address is 1300 W. Capitol Ave., 72201. Credit card donations can be made by calling 501-374-2361.

And, yes, this is the official address and phone number for the state dem HQ. It's legit and they are pushing hard to put Kerry over the top in Arknasas. These three men along with Clinton -- HUGE impact.

Imagine Clinton lying in his hospital bed doing a TV commercial for John Kerry!! Have him say something like "the government gives me this healthcare, and I am greatful. But I want you to have this kind of healthcare, too!"

And if he's able, a whistlestop or bus tour through the state on the final three days of the campaign. Wes could go with him. But I dont want Clinton pushing it.

18. I wouldn't put too much stock into this poll. Looks like an outlier
It's a small media poll, which are consistently unreliable or atleast far, far, less reliable than the big professional firms. In the last 3 polls posted on http://www.dalythoughts.com/ar/ar.htm Bush is up by 9, 9, and 7 (from most recent to most long ago) and he's over 50 percent in all 3.

Believe me, Arkansas is not a determining state. If Kerry wins it, it will be a blowout electorally for him.

19. Read the post
It was conducted by Zogby for that Ark. newspaper. THere is no more reliable pollster. Ive seen a couple more of the last month that show it a two point race. It is in no way an outlier.

22. As much as I wish it I don't see it happening for Kerry here.
One poster mentions Wes Clark working hard here in Arkansas but I've
seen no evidence of this and I live in heavily Democratic west Little Rock.

26. Think about this:
Gore states + New Hampshire + Arkansas = 270EVs. Exactly.

No Ohio.
No Florida.
No Colorado.

For a long time this year, I've called this the back-door entrance to the White House. While everyone is watching the front door (the 3 states above), the back door is being unguarded by a somniferous octagenarian. Kerry needs to hammer Arkansas HARD.
