Clark: The candidate of "Foreign Policy Experience..."
"Certainly there's a connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda," he said in 2002. "It doesn't surprise me at all that they would be talking to Al Qaeda, that there would be some Al Qaeda there or that Saddam Hussein might even be, you know, discussing gee, I wonder since I don't have any scuds and since the Americans are coming at me, I wonder if I could take advantage of Al Qaeda? How would I do it? Is it worth the risk? What could they do for me?"

Oops!

Obviously he had to change his tune when he could not get that job he wanted working for the Bush whitehouse.

1. Clark's Foreign Policy Credentials are Unmatched

Which other candidate has Clark's foreign policy credentials? None.

But nice attempt at a smear, nonetheless. Happy Monday!

2. Well, we know he's a Belgian Liberal
Liberty for corporations, that is, to rule your life and send you up the river when it's convenient.

Think about Clark when the government expands the no-fly list from Greens to DUers, because he had a hand in promoting it.

10. I hope we get a man who can think of incentives...
Edited on Mon Jan-12-04 04:44 PM by HumanPatriot
beyond blowing up metal stuff. And no, bombing is not the root of diplomacy, but only one incentive to manipulate cultures imperilistically. There are many others, and even more incentives which do not involve imperialistic manipulation (but rather cooperation). But bombing is easier I guess, and gets our economy going, and surely doesn't promote 3rd world citizens into taking arms up against us, eh?

Vote for Clark. He knows how to bomb stuff.

5. He's an empty uniform, IMO
And in a lot of ways, he terrifies me more than a second Bush term.

9. Don't be afraid
Clark has been very up front about his stances, including this one. He doesn't deny that he made the statement but puts it in prospective as to what was going on at that time. I guess I'd like to hear the whole tape or at least the question/statement prior to his saying "Certainly there's a connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda".

As much as we can argue over differing points of view, we should acknowledge that Wes Clark was one of the first people to questions the war in Iraq and the motives for going in. How does his noting a connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda change the fact that he did not approve of the war and would not have endorsed a resolution allowing for an attack w/out congressional approval.

It's enough for me. What if Dean, Kerry, Gebhardt or Kucinich had made the same statement, would you roast them?
