Has ANY gay supporter come to Kerry's defense?
It's pretty sad when Andrew Sullivan is the only person who comes to mind.

4. I'm talking about high profile supporters
A lot of gay and lesbian groups are actively supporting Kerry. Why are they so silent? Are they genuinely offended by what Kerry said?

There is no where for this story to go. As soon as people start digging into it all comes up embarrasing for Bushco. They will try to make a little hay out of it today, but nobody is really gonna care...especially when they see what he said

This "anger" is actually frustration at having to be put on the spot about an uncomfortable issue. Too bad for them.

21. Agreed, focus on Bin Laden, Jobs, Economy, Environment

Focus on the real issues. Everytime this comes up, redirect it back into the issues. This is a right wing deflection. They don't want focus on the actual campaign issues where Bush was made to look the fool in yet another debate.

15. The largest GLBT organization in America takes Kerry's side, not Cheney's
“Senator Kerry made clear that gay Americans should have the same basic rights, responsibilities and protections as every other American.

“Vice President Cheney first discussed his own daughter in the context of this issue two months ago and it is not surprising that Senator Kerry mentioned her experience as emblematic of millions of gay Americans.

“Senator Kerry was speaking to millions of American families who have hard-working, tax-paying gay friends and family members.”

The Human Rights Campaign is the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender political organization with members throughout the country. It effectively lobbies Congress, provides campaign support and educates the public to ensure that LGBT Americans can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.

16. Well, he's not American, but RUPERT EVERETT.
On "The View" (of all things), the day Edwards was on last week, Rupert Everett put his hands together in prayer, and said right to the camera, "as a foreigner who loves this country, and who has made a lot of his money in this country, I say to you America PLEASE, PLEASE CHANGE YOUR ADMINISTRATION."

Baba Wawa went apeshit and told him to be quiet! She had just told Edwards he couldn't talk about politics, and so Rupert couldn't talk about it either. But he didn't give a rat's ass.

It was SO GREAT.

23. Why Did You Start This Divisive Thread, Dolstein?
First of all, your comment in your post # 4 above was either made in complete ignorance or, if not, with malicious intent to divide.

Here is your comment, Dolstein: "A lot of gay and lesbian groups are actively supporting Kerry. Why are they so silent? Are they genuinely offended by what Kerry said?"

Here's what the number one and most influential gay and lesbian organization in America says about Kerry's comment last night:

--------

HRC RESPONDS TO LYNNE CHENEY REMARKS

"President Bush missed one more chance to denounce discrimination last night so it is bewildering that Lynne Cheney instead attacked Senator Kerry,’ said HRC President Cheryl Jacques." Human Rights Campaign, October 14, 2004. http://www.hrc.org/Template.cfm?Section=Press_Room&CONTENTID=23404&TEMPLATE=/ContentManagement/ContentDisplay.cfm

--------

So was it ignorance or malicious intent to divide?

Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 08:51 PM by sangh0
I, for one, do not understand how anyone could do that when yesterday, millions of Americans heard John Kerry accuse bush* of saying that "he doesn't think about" OBL and where he is.

That one quote has the potential to assure a Kerry victory. So let's talk about lesbians!!

29. Dolstein's Posts For Nearly Four Years...
have been few and far between when it comes to defending gay people.

I know. I've gone round and round here all these years with him on issues such as his support of Bush's "faith based initiatives", his dissing of Howard Dean's support of civil unions as a hurtful issue for the Democratic Party. It's all in the archives.

Only Dolstein, could blame queers like me, for not sticking up for John Kerry and falsely saying that leading gay groups were "silent" about defending Kerry after the debate.

Of all the gin joint arguments in the world, Dolstein had to pick this one at this time and space.

Revealing. So revealing.

33. If you think this is a divisive thread, why do you want to keep it alive?
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 09:42 PM by dolstein
Do I detect a little bit of hypocrisy in your behavior? Indeed I do!

I asked a simple question. Have any of Kerry's gay supporters (and by this I mean high profile individuals, like Barney Frank, as well as gay rights organizations, like the HRC) come to Kerry's defense. I was expressing disappointment at was I considered to be the lack of a quick response. Your decision to interpret my post as a personal attack as well as a slur against the gay community says far more about you than it does about me. Lynne Cheney has nothing on you.

You obviously have some kind of martyr complex, as evidenced by your determination to keep this thread alive as long as possible.

34. Because I Know That You Wish It Would Quietly Go Away.
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 09:54 PM by David Zephyr
You give yourself away again, "I was expressing disappointment at was (sic) I considered to be the lack of a quick response."

But Dolstein, there was a rapid response and by the largest "gay group" (as you say) of them all (although it is an incorporated organization). See Democat's post in #15 or the one I also gave.

So why were you expressing "disappointment" with gay people? There was no need for your expressed "disappointment"?

So my question was why did you start this divisive thread? Ignorance before posting...or malicious intent to divide?

It's a fair question to ask.

---David "Lynne" Zephyr (as you imply)
