WHS students hear Kucinich’s vision of U.S. : Read to see REAL journalism |
|
http://www.seacoastonline.com/news/hampton/01092004/news/69457.htm JERACO truck cap, black, fits 1994-2002 Chevy S10, $700. 2 smelt shacks $75/$125. 1998 riding mower, new engine, good belts/blades, $550. (603)436-4821 HAMPTON - Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich addressed students at Winnacunnet High School on Thursday afternoon. He articulated his progressive vision for America to a group mostly composed of those too young yet to vote, but he directed his ideas toward problems for which the students in the room will be forced to take responsibility.
Kucinich described his proposal to create a cabinet-level Department of Peace, which would apply the principles of nonviolent conflict resolution to domestic and international affairs.
The new department would address problems such as domestic violence, child abuse, school violence and racial and anti-gay attacks by advancing the values of "mutuality, peace sharing and respect." He wants to look at such issues "in an open-hearted way that can teach people."
snip
He points out that had the U.N. weapons inspectors who were in Iraq previous to the invasion been allowed to conclude their work, "we would have found out the same thing we know now, which is there are no weapons of mass destruction."
snip
He would redirect government spending used for defense and military purposes to finance extensive domestic projects. He advocates subsidizing a full-employment economy with Keynesian initiatives on the scale of Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal. Kucinich would create millions of jobs by funding the rebuilding of schools, police stations and infrastructure. Notice there is no editorializing about what a longshot candidate he is, or what his poll numbers are, or how much money he's raised. It's simply limited to the facts of who, what, when, where, and why.
Keep this in mind when you read a NY Times, or MSNBC piece about Kucinich and they mention by the second sentence that Kucinich has no chance in hell of winning. This is what good journalism looks like. Everything else is telling you who to vote for. The sad thing is most of you are buying it.

8. What an excellent article! Koppel must not have had a voice in it. |

It is amazing to listen to his policies without every other sentence saying he polls low, has less money or is unelectable.
If people want America to become what it ultimately should be, there is no choice but Kucinich.
On a sidenote: Notice he is speaking to people who cannot even vote for him, he is not a politicizing panderer like some others. He just cares enough about you and I and what he believes in that he only wants to spread his message and ideas.
