9. it's called strategy & tactical campaigning
I think he's had a "let them underestimate me, then slam them" tactic.

11. Where are you seeing/hearing this?
Just tuned into CNN and they cut the speech off. Not airing on CSPANs, MSNBC. It annoys the hell out of me that this is really the only time Kerry will be visible for the next 19 days, giving speeches, and we're not able to see him.

15. I am an early member of AARP
As soon as I reached their earliest age for membership, I joined (50 years old)
This is one hell of an organization , far more powerful than wedge organizations like the NRA
The AARP is the single most powerful lobbying groujp in the United States with a membership that dwarves the NRA.

I have never heard the members of the AARP respond to any speaker as powerfully as they are resonding to Kerry, and the degree of anger with which they booed references to the president stunned me. I am used to hearing Bush's pre-screened groupsbooing Kerry, but the response of
this group today, with the largest block of people who actually vote in the greatest percentages and the largest numbers is an indication that those older than fifty years old are going to vote in very great numbers for John Kerry.

Kerry has finally crossed the wall of credibility in his policy, and certainly in the impression of his Presidential demeanor.

Kerry has enormous momentum. Bush is obviously turning off swing voters.

Kerry is strongly making the point that the world is too dangerous to NOT change horses in mid stream, particularly when the horse is wearing blinders that prevent him from seeing that it is about to run into a wall.

18. Didn't AARP leadership (not the members) push Shrub's
drug plan & thereby piss off a lot of their members? A real sense that the head of the org had sorta been planted there to deliver the org for Bush.

Thousands of members resigned over this IIRC.

22. Yup.
My husband cancelled his membership. They have, however, since come out and said that they were misled and have been fairly vocal about how it has not turned out to be what was promised.

Not to mention the fact that Kerry is probably speaking to members and the members did NOT support the medicare bill. The leadership of the organization took considerable flak from the members for their support of it.

30. I just saw it on NBC News - they treated Kerry like a Rock Star!
Hah - remember the idiot columnist (was it Milbank?) earlier in the week who said W's crowds treated him like a rock star while Kerry's were more subdued.

Looks like Seniors are going to turn out for Kerry! Love it since they are the most reliable voting group. They're pissed over Medicare price increase, the shitty Medicare drug bill, the price of drugs and W blocking importing from Canada, and they're worried about their grandkids in the military or being drafted.

would have a tape video of this speech to hear? I'll check.

Yeah, I think it was milibank that said something stupid like that.

Course,he'll have to eat his words.
