I'm working at an African American church here in Tallahassee. Wouldn't it be cool if Michael Moore came by? He's going to be in town on election day.

2. No clue yet
I'm on the volunteer list, but the locals aren't sure where they'll be needing me the most. Honestly, I probably won't know until I get there that morning. :) In any event -- poll watching, driving, phoning, door-knocking... whatever I'm needed to do, I'm willing.

Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 02:38 PM by Gaffey Duck
Downing tons of alcohol, watching the results, and possibly pulling an all-nighter. Likely with my entire family. I'm not American, so it's the most "productive" thing I can do on election night.

Fuck Windows Client-Server and Marketing lecture hours.

A nail-biting election is a good excuse to listen to Air America Radio and get wasted. :-)

Just like I did for Taiwan, only I had nothing whatsoever to do the next day.

Try to stick around and go to the supervisor of elections office after the polls close. Lots of bad stuff goes on there. Just quietly watch what they do. Bring your camera.

49. Election Protection needs people
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 08:29 PM by brooklynite
http://electionprotection.org

The Election Protection coalition has designated certain states, where voters in minority communities were disproportionately disenfranchised in the past, to be at a particularly high risk: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Within these states, we have chosen the most at-risk districts in order optimize our volunteers' abilities to make a difference on election day. If you do not live in a "high risk" state, we urge you to travel to a state where you can make the greatest difference on election day.

We will be deploying volunteers in the following highest risk cities:

Arizona
Phoenix
Tucson

Colorado
Colorado Springs
Denver
Pueblo

Florida
Ft. Lauderdale
Jacksonville
Miami-Dade
Orlando
Palm Beach
Tallahassee
Tampa

Illinois
Chicago

Michigan
Detroit
Flint
Inkster
Pontiac

New Mexico
Albuquerque
Las Cruces
Santa Fe

Ohio
Akron
Cincinnati
Cleveland
Columbus
Toledo
Youngstown

Pennsylvania
Allentown
Chester
Harrisburg
Philadelphia
Pittsburgh
Reading

Wisconsin
Kenosha
Milwaukee
Racine

We will also be deploying volunteers in the following high risk cities:

Arkansas
Hot Springs
Little Rock
Pine Bluff

Georgia
Atlanta

Louisiana
New Orleans

Minnesota
Twin cities

Missouri
Kansas City
St. Louis

Nevada
Las Vegas
Reno

North Carolina
Raleigh-Durham

Texas
Houston

21. I'm a voter Challenger
I get to stand between the repubs and their desire to disenfranchise the people. I feel pretty damn full of myself. Seriously, we've heard of people telling undereducated voters that if they have a parking ticket or an unpaid utility bill they can't vote. K/E is getting lawyers to work the polls to prevent such shenanigans.

My Pac has a list of likely Kerry voters. I will sit at the polls and check the off when they vote. The ones who don't show get a call from us. I will probably also drive folks if I can and hold a sign if I can and do anything else I can do that day. :hi:

In Oregon, election day is sort of anti-climatic, since everyone votes by mail, there's not much to do anymore except wait until 8:00....
