Bush response on last night's debate: "Uh, the voters will decide"
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 03:16 PM by Bush_Eats_Beef
This is a partial transcript (I transcribed it) from the video clip on the Fox News home page under "Fox News Access Video." The clip is called "The Day After: Pres. Bush and Sen. McCain react to Wednesday night's debate."

http://www.foxnews.com/

"19 days to go, and I'm looking forward to it. I enjoyed myself last night, the debate phase of the campaign is over, now's the sprint to the finish, and...(pause)...uh, the good news is I'm not going to be sprinting alone. I'll have a lot of support from good people like Senator McCain and Governor (unintelligible). We'll be seeing governors today in, uh, Las Vegas, and they'll be spreading out all across the country, and I'm excited about it...(pause)...uh, my spirits are high, I'm enthusiastic about my chances. I'll answer a couple of questions and then we'll let you have your coffee.

Q: Some of the early polls say Kerry won last night. What do you have to say?

Bush: Uh, the voters will decide. They'll decide on November 2nd who they want to be president.

Q: Has Kerry helped himself face-to-face...

Bush: The voters will decide. That's the great thing about a campaign is all the speculation ends on Election Day.

John McCain: Can I just say that, on substance, there is no doubt...you talk about Social Security, you don't want to reform it, you don't know how to pay for it, you can't answer the question, people notice that. On substance, the president won, and that's what people think about when they go into the ballot booth.

Q: Mr. President, what do you think your best moment was last night?

Bush: Uh...(pause)...tellin' people what I think. (Pause)...Again, you know, the pundits and the spinners, they all have their opinion, but there's only one opinion that matters. And that's the opinion of the American people on November the 2nd. And, uh...I feel great about where we are. There's a lot of enthusiasm for my candidacy. People have seen me lead. They also know that I've got plans for the next four years. And, uh...(pause)...as you'll hear me today, I'm...uh...(pause)...optimistic about the future of this country.

5. Actually as transcribed above it says unitelligible, which I take as
as subconscious dig at aWol* himself. unit-elligible? Yes it was, that doesn't mean he was gonna go to Viet Nam.

9. "all the speculation ends on Election Day."
Excuse me? Last time I checked, Smirky, the speculation from the 2000 election was still very much alive.

10. Furious george is such a chump!
Doih, the voters will decide?? You're damn tootin', and you ain't who we're picking, shrubbie boy. And what's up with McCain? I used to like him and cannot believe he's changed so much in such a short time. I realize he has aspirations for higher office, but didn't know blow jobs were part of the eligibility requirements.

12. Of course the voters will decide
What we're worried about is BushCo deciding to cheat and steal the election anyway.

13. Coupla things
First of all, there IS something wrong with the left side of his face, especially around his mouth. It's as if he has lidocaine and just had dental work. But it was like that last night, wouldn't it have worn off by now?

Secondly, why did he have to have McCain speak for him so much? Can you imagine if Kerry went out to talk to the press and he got Gephardt to stand there to talk for him like that? McCain sounded a hell of a lot better than bush, how sad.

Thirdly, who was that woman at the end talking about what she liked? I hope to God she wasn't a reporter.

Fourth, why can he not ever talk to the press without tons of administration people or handlers around? All he could say over and over was "the voters will decide." Nothing of substance.

And did anyone notice McCain's face while bush was talking? And while McCain was talking bush would just look at him all lovey-dovey and grinning ("heheh, I totally fucked you in 2000 and now here you are working for me, heheheh." That Beavis and Butthead chuckle of his.)

He's going down. I think in more than one way now.

14. A few thoughts:
I think that, in Bush's mind, McCain is a "dislike deflector." When his unpopularity comes up (either re: his issues or HIMSELF), he always whips out "Senator McCain strongly wants to see me re-elected.") Secondly, she seems to enjoy holding McCain's neck in public almost as much as his wife's.

I didn't recognize the woman at the end...that's the only reason why I didn't add her to the transcription...

And yes, there were a few moments...DESPITE his smiles and enthusiastic testimonials for Lord Supreme Commander Bunnypants...where McCain looked like he wanted to crawl under the nearest rock and die.

I'd really love to know the "backstory" on this one. I don't think the answer is "McCain is insane in the membrane." He MIGHT be, but there's more to it than that.

16. Good analysis, Moonbeam.
I felt like I was there watching it,too.

I just saw the new ad of the DNC, "What's So Funny?"..and I couldn't believe bush..it must be from the debate last night and he definetly looked like he was on something.

All that blinking, and cackling, and someone mentioned he was laughing before bob got the whole question out. Like he, either, knew the question or was just maniacally laughing or both.

17. That's what worries me
I KNOW in a fair election Kerry will win but the chimp side is so sleazy and dirty and has proven to be thieves, I often wonder if we have a chance at all. :-(

They'll decide to again place their trust in a man of principle, President George Bush. NOT in that "We have better hair" ketchup boy.
