And to think that I would be morally outraged if someone said I did have a Gay daughter would be incredibly hypocritical. You're either proud of her or your not.

It's as if the Cheney's live in the town of Stepford.

1. Hell, I'm a proud friend of a lesbian next door neighbor
who's one of the nicest folks I know. I have no idea why the Cheneys are so bent out of shape except that they're deeply ashamed of their daughter.

Republicans are sick.

2. Lynnie inferred she's ashamed of her daughter
by the way she attacked Kerry, IMHO. That's very sad...

3. I have to be honest
I would love her, accept her, and always be her mom, but in my heart I would be a little sad. It's such a hard road to travel in life ... so many haters out there. I would feel sad knowing that her path would be a little bit rougher than that of a hetero. Life is hard enough as it is.

For a gay son that would be even harder because the life of a gay man is often MUCH rougher than that of a hetero man. There seems to be even more animosity toward them than toward gay women.

My apologies if this offends anyone. I just wanted to be honest.

6. I think one of the most important things we can do
Is try to make our world a place where people are accepted for who they are. The gay/lesbian issue is an important front in the war for equal rights. There will always be gay people. The Republicans think that they can make homosexuality go away by refusing to give homosexuals equal rights and by forcing their form of religion on people- like somehow they'll be converted.

4. Don't you have to make that decision on a case by case basis?....
For example, suppose you have a gay child and that person turns into a serial killer?

Otherwise, I would have no problem being proud of a gay child...I would just want them to be happy whatever they chose to do in life.

Except being a serial killer, of course.

5. Did you ever see Eddie Izzard's bit on this?
Paraphrase:

"When you one person, they send you to Texas and hit you with a brick. When you kill ten people they put you in a hospital and stare at you thru a window forever. But when you kill 100,000 people we're almost like, 'Well done! Well done! You killed 100,000 people? You must get up very early in the morning! I can hardly get down to the gym!"

7. This is what we need to start saying!!
Everyone should start asking "Why are the Republicans so ashamed of a gay daughter?" All pundits for our side should say this! It looks the Republicans look scared and frightful to be so defensive.

8. I HAVE a gay daughter, and I'm VERY proud of her!

She's done much better in life than I have, and I couldn't be prouder.

Well, maybe I could--she's pregnant and it is quite possible that I could be prouder of my grandchild--I just don't know it yet.

My daughter is a corporate attorney, in a 10-year committed lesbian relationship, and will make a terrific parent. AND my daughter and her partner are both Democrats! What more could one ask for?
