One of the worst lies of last night from Bush. No litmus test for judges. |
|
That is utter nonsense. Of course there is. Every man or woman Bush has nominated to federal judgeships have been vetted by the Federalist Society.
Every one of Bush's nominees are ardently pro-life, anti-affirmative action (particularly in the case of Charles Pickering), pro-business, anti-consumer. These nominees are much in line with the far right wing out of the mainstream philosophy that guides this administration.
We Americans will have to live with the legacy of these judges decisions. Their rulings will affect the law for...and our lives...for years...for decades to come.
Kerry is bringing this up in this campaign. And I'm heartened that he is.

Do you think there was anyone in America who believed him?

2. He said that after last week mentioning Dred Scott |
|
which was another way of saying he won't appoint judges that "invent" law.

is what's so bad about a litmus test for Supreme Court jsutices? It's the highest judicial office in the land, the people who fill that role SHOULD be vetted.
Of course, Bush knows that the American people would not approve of the way he vets them, so he says he does not. Pure, unadulterated bullshit. I am more uncomfortable with a president who says "Nope, don't care what they think, just appoint 'em"

10. Didn't Bush Sr. use the same phrase in his campaign? |
|
When I heard Bush Jr. say "no litmus test for judges" I thought "Gawd, am I hearing his dad now?"
I wondered if the "Iraqi Soldiers ripping Kuwaiti babies from incubators" lie would soon follow...

Did I dream that he said that in the 2nd debate?

He may not take personality "responsibility" for leaving his fingerprints on the litmus test....but we all know his handlers will.
