If you don't want the US to have such a huge impact on world events, then do something to make your country more powerful.Oh, wait - you're not American.
I guess whining about it is all you know how to do.

The Brits want a say in how we govern our country? I thought we finally resolved this issue with the War of 1812?

Prior to America's entry into WW2, there were many criticisms of FDR's Lend Lease with Britain, none of which came from that stricken country.
You're welcome, you low-life socialist British scumbags(words from Teresa Heinz Kerry)!

Um, We jackson may have won at new orleans, but the U.S. didn't exactly win that war. The British just got bored with war. My canadien friends, whenever I mention how much canda benefits from having an 800-pound gorrilla of a nation to the south, remind me which nation managed to light the white house on fire.

If they want a say, if they want to be part a real union that will make the lives of people better, then they can have 4 Senators and 25 Representatives.
Heck, we'd be glad to have them aboard. The Queen could pay for the administrative costs of the annexation out of her jewels.

Wonder how they would react if a bunch of motivated colonials targeted their voters. I think it's time they gave the Tories another chance at governing.

Remind your Canookian friends that the US has invaded Canada 14 times over the intervening years and Canada has responded by:

Giving us Oregon, Washington, parts of Alaska, parts of Maine, parts of Vermont, several islands off of Maine, several more in the San Juan Strait, and they agreed to the border at the 49th parallel instead of the 42nd. Of those subsequent 14 invasions Canada has come out on the short-end of the stick precisely 14 times. (Source: "A Brief History of Canada" - really boring book by some droll Canadian guy.)

So the 800 lbs gorilla was slapped when it was a mere infant. Your Canadian friends sound like typical willfully ignorant liberals. Don't address the point at hand...just dredge up some meaningless fact that is entirely irrelevant.

6. Settlers settled in territory that had been nominally Canadian
and the Treaty of Oregon ceded those territories peacefully to the U.S. in 1848. Calling that any kind of invasion is a bit on the ludicrous side - rather like calling the Pig War of the San Juan Islands any kind of war. The only fatality was a pig.

thank you and I'm humbly impressed. Now for the other 13 invasions? What do you know about those? Where do you find this type of information?

10. There were other American invasions of Canada
During the Revolutionary war, there were excursions from New York (in the part that is now Vermont) into Canada. Those excursions were repelled by the British.

Unfortunately this country has a long tradition of invading its neighbors-- whether the country "deserved it" or not.
