Holy Moly! Is the bulge a defibrillator?
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 05:24 PM by displacedtexan
Bush* delays the annual August physical until after the election because...?

Hm.

I saw this link at Buzzflash:

When to Use the LifeVest

When to Use the LifeVest™ System

The LifeVest was designed as an intermediate-term treatment option for people at high risk for sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). Right now, people at a high, short-term risk of SCA are typically monitored in a hospital intensive care (ICU) or coronary care unit (CCU). With monitored beds costing up to $2,000 a day, this option quickly becomes very expensive and is primarily reserved for critical care patients.

Patients with a high, long-term risk of SCA are often candidates for an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), but this option is also expensive (up to $65,000) and requires surgery. According to Morgan Stanley, only one out of six US patients who need an ICD actually get one.*

The LifeVest fills the therapeutic gap between hospitalization and an ICD. The LifeVest has the same important characteristics of both an ICU/CCU and the ICD; it continuously monitors the heart and is designed to provide prompt defibrillation when needed. LIFECOR®, Inc. believes that the LifeVest has the potential to become the standard of care for intermediate-term patients. And, in cases when an ICD is not feasible, it also can serve as a longer-term alternative.

9. Cheney doesn't have one of those.

Cheney doesn't have one of those. However, Cheney has an implantable defibrillator (apparently that would be the next step if you were wearing one of these defibrillator harness things shown in the picture). He might have a bulge on the skin on his chest visible if he took his shirt off but nothing that you'd be able to appreciate through clothing.

4. Where is the bulge at his waist for the other part of this device?
The back part is not all there is to this think -- look at the waist.

We would see that bulge too (imho)

6. This could explain EVERYTHING..his distraction in the first debate...
worried about his health...the bulge...WOW...yes it DOES look like the bulge! AND his refusal to have a physical before the elections...it all fits neatly into that little package he has on his back!

Thanks!

7. It wouldn't bother me so much that he
needs it, if it is, indeed, a defib, what would bother me was his refusal to be honest and open about it. Suppose that shouldn't surprise me, though.

After the debate, I got to thinking. The bulge on Shrub's back is way too visible to hide and it just sits there like a big white elephant. Everyone sees it, some of us question it, some others pretend it's not there, but the point is, we all see it.

I thought last night the bulge would be gone, I didn't really think Shrub's handlers would let him walk on that stage with that obvious peculiarity still visible to the prying cameras (and eyes). Alas, what did we all see? The bulge, again.

Coupled with conjecture of the state of his coronary system, I started to think that just maybe whatever it is that is hooked up on him is vitally important, so important that they have to risk letting the public see it yet again. What could possibly be that important? The only thing I could imagine was a life and death situation. I started searching for mechanical intervention devices for strokes and heart attacks (love that Google) and found that interesting vest which could possibly explain the Mystery Bulge.

26. Of course they will say no
If you let a sniper know you are wearing a vest capable of stopping his round, he'll just put a bullet through your forehead or neck.

Kerry's or *'s staff would have to be morons to admit it.

27. Exactly. I'm surprised this is still popping up. Google up a pic of a
bullet proof vest. As extreme as all of the security stuff (remember the trip to England and all the hoopla over the huge security effort) seems to be around *, I'm 100% confident that he probably wears this thing in the shower. And the first rule of security is to not let anyone know your procedures. It's kind of fun to enjoy the paranoia of it all, but save your tinfoil hat for when you really need it.

16. I thought about a defibrillator too!
Considering the fact that Bush has refused to take his physical until after the election, and adding to that the very noticeable symptoms he displayed during the debates (sagging side of mouth, rapid blinking, the drool, along with the distractability, inappropriate laughter, etc) - well, a lot of this points to someone who has had a mild stroke. It could be that Bush is a very physically ill man, and that this fact is being hidden.

A terrible thought occurs to me: What if the plan is, should Bush be re-elected, for him to resign due to health issues and hand the Presidency over to Cheney?

I don't even want to think about Uncka Dickie as Prez.

32. It's actually worse than that.
If Junior's really that ill, that he's wearing a portable jumpstart, and we already know that Uncle Dick is one heart attack away from a beachfront condo at the Lake of Fire, wouldn't that really mean you have to consider Dennis Hastert the third running mate on the ticket? :scared:

21. Remember when he passed out eating a pretzel? What was the diagnosis?
Do patients with that diagnosis often progress to needing to wear a harness with a box that size between the shoulder blades?

Also, didn't President Stupid stop jogging recently? What was the excuse he gave?

And the postponement of the physical almost surely indicates there's some medical condition he's decided to hide.

I think you well may be on to something.

30. Mentioned on another thread speculating on Bush's health...
When Bush had the pretzel incident, it was said that he had sinus bradycardia, an unusually slow heartbeat. Someone said his resting heartrate is 45 bpm. That due to this, losing oxygen for the small amount of time choking on the pretzel, it was easy for him to lose consciousness.

It was also suggested by someone who also has (I believe they said) sinus bradycardia, that if the disorder is coupled with an irregular heartbeat, it can result in heart failure. Hence, the need for a defibrillator, in the event that were to occur.

If it's a defibrillator, the waist bulge should be visible too. (Unless the Secret Service would be near at hand to attach that part of it?)

28. That looks like it. Same shape as the bulge. Why hasn't anyone else
figured that out? What about Salon? :eyes:

Only problem is that he couldn't cover that big battery pack that the photo shows on the side. Maybe there's a smaller pack? Or maybe it's strapped to his leg and his suit pants cover it? When he wears his jeans it would be very visible though.
