Did Mary Cheney TELL the KE campaign to talk about her?
This is my contribution to the controversy --

I think Mary Cheney, a noted gay activist, knew exactly the right button to push to get this issue out in the open, probably doesn't like the current guy in the Oval Office, and has some "issues" of her own with her parents, so....

I'm wondering if she "talked to" someone in the campaign about the fastest way to lose the "evangelical base" plus get some of her own back for the way her family has been treating her.

What do you think? We "liberals" don't have a problem with it, but its obviously a sore spot for the wackos on the right. Think SHE gave her advance permission? Its subtle, AND effective. Hmmm....

Bravo for her if she did -- and bravo to her spouse, too! Yeah, Mary Cheney! Yeah, John Kerry and John Edwards! Yeah, EVERYONE who loves someone who isn't heterosexual! Yeah!!!

3. Ah, but she's also a pissed off / disillusioned daughter.
A little bit of sabotage for not standing up for her? I think someone should ask her about this. :)

10. Seriously, didn't she do some stuff with Coors that helped
gay people get benefits for their partners? :) That counts, right? :)

12. Don't take my word for it
Snip

Mary Cheney, the conservative vice president's lesbian daughter, has taken flak in recent years for not following the path paved by Gingrich. Cheney, who did not even appear on the platform of the recent Republican National Convention, remains loyal to her father as a key advisor who travels with him on nearly every campaign trip.

6. Mary Cheney has expressed no "outrage"...
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 06:04 PM by pelagius
...over John Kerry's comments, though. I've mentioned this ad nauseum in other topics, but it's important. If Mary makes a statement, this story has legs. But I doubt she will at this point, even though she's a paid employee of the Bush campaign and this could hurt Kerry.

Her silence is odd.

I suspect being gay in the Cheney household is excellent training on how to act with stealth.

9. Agreed....Her Silence Says It All
I honestly feel a lot of empathy for her right now as she's really the victim of this GMA crap, which is what started this mess in the first place.

Kharma's a bitch!
