This may be a really stupid idea, I don't know. It may be incredibly farfetched.

I hear all the talk about "the abuse of the public trust" and so forth in regards to this, and how the airwaves are the "public" airwaves. By public I assume that means everyone, and I may be wrong.

Couldn't the "public" sue for abuse of the public airwaves? I guess it would be a class action, open to any US citizen.

Probably not a good idea for some reason I'm not aware of, but leave no stone unturned eh?

I think it's mainly a matter of money. If someone with enough money sued them, I think they'd have to back down because they couldn't afford a long, drawn-out suit. They're not in what I would characterize as a solid financial position. They've just become profitable after a number of bad years, and they only had $28 million in cash at the beginning of the year. They also have a rather pressing debt-load as well, given their low net income for a company worth $2.6 billion. If someone with a lot of money like, say, George Soros were to back the suit and threaten to carry it out as long as needed, they would back down. Now as to if it's realistic . . . I don't think so. Oh, and I got all my figures from their 2003 annual report.
