Poll question: $100 donation vs. Monthly giving. Which sends the stronger message?
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 08:46 PM by CarlW
I've posted here before that if John Kerry does not win the Presidency on Nov. 2nd, I will give some big donations to the ACLU and People For The American Way. My original plan was to give a one-time $100 donation to the ACLU and monthly donations to PFAW. But I may end up changing my "Plan B" slightly and I wanted to get some opinions. In order to become a monthly donor to either organization, you need to call or write to them. A one-time donation can be made online. $100 is bigger at the time, but $20 a month for 12 months adds up to a lot more. Plus, as angry as I would be on the 3rd should the unthinkable happen, it would give me great pleasure to call both organizations so I can tell them exactly why I'm joining....and I hope they would get lots of other calls too! Let me know what I (and I hope others) should do should the country prove itself too far to the right on Nov. 2nd.

1. KICK
It's all tied up right now, so I'm giving it a kick to break the tie!

2. A final kick....
It's still all tied up. I'll go with whatever side gets the most votes should the unthinkable happen.

3. I think a monthly donation
If you can afford it. Plus, it shows you are committed to their organization and all the benefits that go along with it, if there are any.

4. Let them knw why they have your support
I think this is a better idea...sure, they will say whatever they have to to get the money....thats the PR's person's job, but its sort of a CYA in the sense that 3 or 4 yrs down the road, maybe Kerry will have turned our economy around, youll be making more, and in turn donating more to these organizations, and may have more say, and you can honestly say "I told so and so this 3 or 4 yrs ago, and I believe it today...".
