Have you boycotted any Sinclair sponsors today?
List/link: http://www.democraticunderground.com/archive/sinclair.html

I didn't buy any Pepsi products and I think that targeting Pepsi alone among the many Sinclair advertisers would be effective.
Pepsi spends 225 million in advertising a year and is only second to Coke with a 30% share of the soft drink market with brands in the top ten beverages in the world: Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Diet Pepsi, and Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi as well as the #1 tea, Lipton Tea. They also own Frito Lay--the largest snack company in the world and they own KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut.

So consider boycotting some of PepsiCo and you touch a lot of the advertising done at Sinclair in one fell swoop.

1. I called my local station and told them that if they
run that program I will take their station off my Satellite pick list forever. I will never watch their station again for any reason.

3. I'm having Pepsi withdrawal--and I had no idea they owned Frito Lay
Now I won't be able to get my Chili Cheese Fritos from the vending machine. But then again, I didn't need them anyway. Thanks Pepsi!

7. Thanks for the correction on KFC and Taco Bell...checked further and
found you were right. Also found:

"The company holds the No.1 position in single serve bottled water with its Aquafina brand with 18 percent of the market. Pepsi also holds 85 percent of the sports drink market with its Gatorade brand and 28 percent of the market with its Tropicana orange juice business. ...However, the company continues to experience serious price competition in the domestic cereal business ."

6. No, but got Spammed by one of the sponsors I emailed
Sent an email to Maquoketa Valley Electric (in Iowa) to ask them to consider no longer spending their advertising dollars on the local Sinclair station, which is KGAN in Cedar Rapids. I was very polite, and did not mention either Kerry or Bush by name. When I returned home this evening and checked my inbox, there were 30+ emails telling me my address had been flagged as sending political SPAM, that it is illegal to send political SPAM, and not to send it anymore. Assholes. I have now blocked and filtered them, so hopefully I won't get anymore. So far, so good anyway.

9. Get some payback through more action:
Go to the DailyKos Sinclair page. Target and monitor advertisers listed there. Scroll to "advertiser responses" for good news.

Bump this DU topic
which will be seen by Sinclair sales people. Let them know what you've done and how you feel.

13. I hope you're right that they're reading....
So far, have only e-mailed the FCC commissioner whose statement was linked...erm...elsewhere on DU, and phoned IAMS pet foods last night. Spoke with a very pleasant courteous young woman in serious CYA mode. Worry I may not have been forceful enough...being Canadian, I sometimes lack in that department...

Am lucky enough to live near a Trader Joe's, which sells gorgeous Italian grapefruit soda--enough to make a person give up Pepsi for life.
