The Bush Campaign Is Flailing |
|
Has anyone else noticed how the Repugs come up with a new reason to bash Kerry every day? They can't seem to get more than one day of news (if even that much) on any of their little distractions. Today's complaint is about Mary Cheney's lesbianism being mentioned last night by Kerry, yesterday the line repeated over and over again is that Kerry is a "tax and spend liberal", etc.
I can't remember what the complaints were for the preceeding days, but all I know is that they try something new every day, and none of it is sticking. They're getting no traction whatsoever. :D
Americans are FINALLY waking up, and they've had enough of the incompetent loser in the White House. Agree?

Kerry wants terroists reduced to nusicances, Kerry now speaks of Cheney's gay daughter. You are right they are desperate and they are behind. Spread the word, we have been shown change and it is on the way. Bush is going down!

They have NO RECORD to run on -- they are grasping for straws.
And with each Debate Defeat, they attempt to roll another one of these one liners out to distract the American public and the Media takes it like candy and runs with it.
Shameful...the election is all about the shameful display that we see from the talking faces on the tube.

They played their cards too early, though, as whatever damage the Swiftliars could do has already been done. Americans are, as a general rule, morons with the attention span of a gnat (I should know; I'm one of them!).

I guess he figures that it worked for his Dad in 1988 to repeat the word "liberal" over and over again, and at this point, he'll try anything to distract the public.

28. Well, they are actually getting more consistent- but scattershot, yes |
|
It's easy to understand, really. All the practical policy stuff has failed them- Iraq and the deficit and the persistent recession are a problem rather than a help to them. The attempt to smear Kerry as unqualified, corrupt, etc. in his past failed- that was the lesson of the spring $80 million ad campaign that was ineffectual. The attempt to pretend that Kerry didn't have the stuff to be President blew up on the debate stages- the 'flip-flopper' attack is dead.
Now that the Undecideds and waverers have concluded solidly that Kerry is Presidential stuff, there's nothing left for B/C but to propose that a Kerry Presidency is going to be Hell. That is: Liberal rather than Conservative.
It's ugly, but we've FINALLY (after most of a year) gotten down to the fundamental politics of it all: Republicans choosing to be identified with the Past, Democrats associated with the Future.
So we're getting the "Liberal" label (it has nothing to do with the literal meaning of the term, of course)- and the 'traditional' partisan Republican God-gays-guns-and taxes scare politics. But notice how Kerry dented and took a good grasp of the center on all of these things in yesterday's 'debate'. As a Catholic, as against discrimination and yet with regard for conservatives' sensibilities, as hunter and on the assault weapons band, and the tax policy. And judging from Bush's and Cheney's positioning on them in the past few weeks, Republicans are moderating on them- they don't think the hard line is a winning one, obviously.
There is still some political capital for Republicans in running on GGG&T, is my impression- but I don't think it gets them more than a 2-3% blip between now and Election Day, if that much. I think K/E will grind it down in time. With Kerry being so well prepared for GGG&T, they have to be opportunistic and throw up a lot of stuff in hope that something will stick just well enough. We're in for a PR artillery battle- duck and take cover- even if it doesn't sway any substantial amount of voters, in the end.

30. Flip flopper, global-tester, lesbian-attacker, what next |
|
If he's literate then he's "too polished", if he says something nice about Mary Cheney then he's "attacked their daugher", if he approaches the position of being the leader of the free world with a shred of introspection, intellect and diplomacy then he's a "pansy".
They call him a man without convictions and then demand he apologize for standing up for what he believed in after Vietnam when nobody else would and everyone turned against him.
They say Kerry was a coward when he fought in Vietnam and that Bush is a real leader while he cheered footbal teams with his little pompoms and stayed home stateside on his prima donna ass while our men and women were getting killed.
They call Kerry a traitor for telling it like it was about Vietnam and the atrocities that took place but Bush is a "great President" for lying to the United States of America.
What fucking idiot votes for this dirtbag is beyond me. All I can say is that anybody stupid/stubborn enough to vote for Bush deserves Bush.
