I respectfully hope this gives pause
to so many who were ready to, or were, firing off angry emails to Koppel prior to the program airing. We have to draw the line somewhere when one of the highest regarded figures in television news is going to do a piece to corroborate or destroy a rumored story?

I'm proud to say I stuck by Ted Koppel's proven integrity and said so in my posts. I can tell you he made O'Neil turn pale white, caught in his own lies. I had felt that's exactly what would happen. O'Neil was stammering like O.J. Simpson, and knew he was being literally humiliated on one of the most watched nighttime tv shows in America.

I close by saying, I had that confidence because of two things. John Kerry is the salt of the earth and I have never seen a man of national prominence, that more exudes the very definition of truth and honesty. But second, I have never seen Ted Koppel report anything but the truth.

If this report had confirmed that John Kerry's version of events, were contrary to the statements in the after-action report, as seen by these people who were witnesses that day, I would have respected Ted Koppel for reporting it. I think that's what Democrats do.

But it is a happy day. That Swift Boat slug has just been exposed for what he is. A leftover Nixon jag off and Five feet of SHIT !

:nuke:

1. the origial posts
indicated a glimmer of hope and the letters sent were unwarrantied...i second your notes on Koppel and feel he was and is a fair man...he will drill both sides equally when they deserve it.

I can understand the heat of battle and all, and the general feeling that one cannot trust 'the media'...but please consider writting him back if you feel you were wrong in your first letter to him.

We need men like him around...to report without fear or favor....the news.

3. It's normal for us to be gunshy
There's no question that most news coverage is slanted against us, we are not accustomed to real honest ringing truth being broadcast over the airwaves. It's a form of abuse syndrome, we duck and cover first and do the cool intellectual thing after. I'm sitting here waiting for Nightline to come on and I'm really really happy that I'll be able to watch without cringing. Are we writing Ted to thank him for telling the TRUTH??? The last of the real journalists.

5. I Emailed a protest note before the show, then sent another. . . . .
. . .apologizing for my lack of faith in the usual fairness of their organization, AND praising and thanking them for this effort. My earlier Email was very polite and businesslike, so I didn't have to be sorry for bad language (as I sometimes am). Let's face it, we're close to the election and many of us are paranoid and ON EDGE.

6. The salt of the earth
Okay, so this is corny, but when that country guy was singing "Wings of a Dove", it made me fully expect to see a dove come and land on Kerry's shoulder at some point in this campaign. I just do not see how a God, if there be one, can not let us have this amazing man lead the world.

7. Me either. I think he could be one of the best presidents ever.
If there could be a new coin, it should have John on one side and the eagle on the other.

8. If Koppel hadn't been such an ass during the Democratic primary debate

that he moderated, I'd have had more confidence in him.

I didn't write to him prior to "Nightline" tonight, though, because it's the first time I've watched anything on ABC since that debate.
