Winter Soldiers
For years, Ted Sampley & his band of rightwingnuts have said most the veterans who testified in the Winter Soldier Investigations were never Vietnam veterans.

NOT TRUE.

NOT ONE veteran from the Winter Soldiers has EVER been discredited to this very day. NOT ONE.

Every single one of those soldiers WERE ACTUAL REAL Vietnam veterans.

The rightwingnuts are mixing up the WS veterans with those in a BOOK, "Conversations with Americans", by Mark Lane, which had NOTHING TO DO with the WS Investigation. Several of the Americans in Lane's book who claimed to be Vietnam vets never were. But Lane's BOOK had NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the WSI.

CHECK THE NAMES for YOURSELVES; NOT ONE NAME that the rightwingnut liars call a fraud appears in the Winter Soldiers Investigations; they ALL appear in the BOOK. NONE of the names in Lane's book appear in the WSI and vice versa.

For more than thirty years since the WSI, individuals and organizations have sought to discredit or at least minimize the painful revelations brought forth at that event. To date, no records of fraudulent participants or fraudulent testimony have been produced.

NONE.

CONGRESS ORDERED the WS confessions be investigated; they were investigated by the Naval Investigations Service, who found that they could NEITHER DENY NOR CONFIRM THE CONFESSED ATROCITIES...

But they DID CONFIRM that every soldier who testified in the WS were VIETNAM VETERANS.

CHARLES COLSON ALSO CONFIRMED the identities of every soldier who testified in the WSI. Colson, as you should know by now, was the man Nixon ordered to find someone to try smearing Kerry; Colson hired John O'Neill.

THE PENTAGON CONFIRMED the identities of every veteran who testified in the WSI.

Kerry NEVER accused any soldiers of ANYTHING; the WS veterans ASKED Kerry to take their confessions and represent them to Congress on their behalf. Kerry did so.

He reported ONLY WHAT THE SOLDIERS HAD SAID, and that was EXACTLY what they'd ASKED KERRY TO DO.

Kerry SHOULD have TURNED HIS BACK on his fellow veterans. Kerry SHOULD HAVE told them all to just DROP DEAD; he should NOT have helped them. Then you rightwingnut MFers wouldn't be trying to smear a man who did his duty, came home, and agreed to NOT TURN HIS BACK on his fellow veterans and those soldiers still stuck in Vietnam dying by the thousands.

Kerry SHOULD HAVE done what any rightwingnut would do; he SHOULD HAVE come home, said HE was safe and out of Vietnam for good, so SCREW THOSE LEFT BEHIND. SCREW the veterans who asked for his help. SCREW EVERYONE ELSE; HE was safe, so SCREW them all.

Instead, Kerry REFUSED TO TURN HIS BACK on his fellow soldiers; he REFUSED to do the easy thing. As did my friend, Col. David Hackworth, who protested alongside John Kerry. After his 5th Vietnam tour.

How easier life would be for them had they been like the coward rightwingnuts and just said FUCK YOU to their fellow soldiers.

And next time you're at your local library, check out the Detroit Free Press newspapers from the time of the hearings (if your library keeps microfiche of national dailies); they reported daily on each Winter Soldier and the Pentagon's confirming their being Vietnam veterans.

The Detroit Free Press printed several stories about the event, including comments from the military. This included confirmation by the Pentagon that participants investigated by reporters were Vietnam veterans as well as a denial of large scale activity in Laos.

Nixon worked very hard trying to discredit the Winter Soldiers. He failed.

Edited; the WS testimonies, their names & ranks & units etc are all part of the official US Congressional Record. The Record shows confirmation of the veterans' status as vets; it does not show any having been discredited.
