Lynn Chaney attacks on Kerry over gay daughter, will backfire
The majority of people are cool with people being gay and once they analyze this they will realize the hypocrisy of Dick and Lynn. People don't like Chaney to begin with so when he gets mad people are instantly annoyed before they even know why he is upset. Everyone knows and has known that Mary Chaney is gay and that Daddy outed her a long time ago. People will smell this crap from a mile away and once they think it over they will realize that Lynn and Dick Head are ashamed of their gay daughter or are simply using their daughter to gain sympathy. If Mary is upset about this then let her speak up about it. She is an adult and can defend herself if she is ashamed of people talking about her being gay. She never will because I am sure she is very proud of who she is and as John Kerry put it "she is what God intended her to be." How right he was and how beautiful it is that she is who she is and everyone knows about it and accepts it. Also, the more this topic comes up the more far right lunatics will stay home because they don't like the idea of Chaney having a gay daughter who he loves and supports. Mrs. Edwards nailed it and people know it. This has exposed the hypocrisy of the Right and people will not be impressed. They should have left that chess piece where it was but now it's too late because that knight has been jumped.

2. The important thing to remember
is the context in which he mentioned her. He isn't offended or repulsed by her. Republicans are. They do not want to confront it. I don't for the life of me understand how the *'s and the Cheney's get along.
Where were the Cheneys when Arkansas ran the anti-gay/bible burning ad?
Where was the Cheney's anger when Keyes called Mary a selfish hedonist?

But compliment Mary, and they go Fing nuts!

14. Yet, Bush waffled when asked if being gay is a matter of choice
He said, "I don't know." This should be the statement sending the religious right into a tizzy. Next to abortion this is their pet issue. Bush is trying to appear as a "compassionate conservative" and still keep his base, who are going to vote for him anyway. Or are they after his waffle????

5. Also their complaints show that Kerry is tough and not afraid . . .

to battle the issues. How can they portray Kerry as weak and now complain that he is being strong armed? I laughed when they tried to make this an issue.

Keep complaining Cheney family--it just reinforces how strong our candidate really is!! :toast:

6. watching Kimmel and Conan monologues
they were both joking about it... Kimmel didn't understand the big deal but said "male focus groups loved it when Kerry talked about lesbians" and Conan joked:

"Oh, yeah. The third and final presidential debate was last night, you all watched that? < Applause > Pretty intense. Yeah, after the debate -- this is true -- dick cheney's wife, lynne, was upset that john kerry brought up their lesbian daughter. Upset. Yeah, she said, 'the only thing that upsets me more is that I brought up a lesbian daughter.'"

10. NEW CNN POLL: should Kerry have mentioned Mary?
Edited on Fri Oct-15-04 03:33 AM by kerstin
CNN has a poll asking whether Kerry should have "brought up" Cheney's "lesbian daughter" at the debate. (It's on the home page on the lower right hand side.)

13. I think the beauty part of it is yet to come.
If they want to keep it alive, the media is going to insist to hear from Mary. There are piranha in reporter waters. You can't have it both ways. You're so upset, let's hear from the victim.

Then watch the fun.
