"Sensitive War", "Global Test", "Mary Cheney" -- detect a pattern?
I never ceases to amaze me just how easily the Bush/Cheney campaign can seize on a few words in order to completely hijack the political coverage, and just how readily the press plays along.

It should be obvious to those in the media that the GOP has clearly crossed the line, and now THEY'RE the ones who are exploiting Mary Cheney for political purposes. But other than Oberman on MSNBC, you really don't see anyone in the press pointing out the rank hypocrisy of the Republicans.

5. This is largely because...
... the American public is more interested in manufactured controversy than they are in actual policy.

We get the government we deserve, even if we don't want to sail on this ship of fools.

6. This is so true
They are so disingenuous. If they REALLY wanted to avoid publicity about Mary, why would they keep bringing it up? If they had kept quiet after the debate chances are it would have just died away. It's another one of their ploys.

7. TV Media caring the message of a few words to hijack POLICY coverage
Absolutely -- that is the real lesson of the Mary Cheney mess.
