ABC's "The Note": The Mary Cheney indignation crap doesn't have legs.
Also note that "The Note" is often less than complimentary of Kerry. They're calling it like they see it- from the 30,000-foot level of the media landscape, this story is dying with the news cycle.

"Basic question: does this story have legs? Does it continue to dominate cable news' frame of the debate? Or does it go away? Judging by somewhat day-bound newspaper coverage, the latter option looks to be winning, but we'll see."

1. So don't give this story legs.
Stop posting threads about it. How hard is that?

3. You missed the point
Someone must be upset that this story doesn't have legs, so they're trying to run with it, over and over.

5. So mentioning GOOD NEWS about a futile GOP tactic = fueling the fire?
I'm not obsessed with this story. And if you believe ABC News, it looks like the Kerry campaign is doing a good job of ensuring that the press isn't obsessed with the story, either.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. Would you rather ignore the GOP echo chamber and let them control the debate for the next 3 weeks?

This is good news. The story's been knocked down.

That is all.

7. By continuously filling
page after page of DU with threads about it, whether positive or negative, you're continuing the feeding frenzy re this story. In order to change the zeitgueist we need to focus on other things.

2. I would think that an objective, professional press would be focusing on
the fact that our President basically said he didn't care if the guy who killed 3 thousand Americans is caught or not, then lied about his statement. But who says we have an objective, professional press?

and talk about what WE want to hear. Meanwhile, Zogby shows some unfortunate movement this morning and you don't even want to go look at Rasmussen today. Trust me on that one.

6. Bill O'Groper has legs....
too bad the O'Groper is allowed to smear the woman he abused on his show and by visiting other networks. He sounds like O'xy Limball. I'm glad O'Groper is fighting for his 'integrity.'
