Bad News for Bush: U.S. Michigan Sentiment Index Fell to 87.5 in October
From 94.2

Oct. 15 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. consumer confidence fell more than forecast this month, a private survey found, as energy prices rose, job growth slowed, and negative campaign ads filled the airways.

The University of Michigan's preliminary sentiment index dropped to 87.5, the lowest reading since April 2003, from 94.2 in September, Market News International reported.

A 34 percent surge in gasoline prices this year is forcing consumers to spend more of their budgets filling up. U.S. payrolls have increased less than forecast for the past four months. Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry is running ads blaming President George W. Bush for the loss of U.S. jobs and declining real wages.

2. And, I think it should read "Consumer Confidence"
Not Michigan sentiment.
