MARY CHENEY, MARY CHENEY!!!!

Zogby!!!

Honestly people, anyone who watched that debate themselves won't agree with Mary Matalin et. al. that the defining moment was the question about homosexuality. Do you really think that one little remark is going to stop Kerry's growing momentum? Are people seriously going to say "well, I would have voted for Kerry, but he shouldn't have brought up Cheney's daughter, so I'll vote for Bush instead"?

Furthermore, as you all freak out about the polls, please note that a) they are national polls, which are meaningless as far as the EC is concerned, and b) Bush still doesn't have over 50% in ANY of them. Think he's happy about that? Think again.

Don't play the RW game of monday morning quarterbacking and self doubt.

4. The only poll that matters takes place on NOVEMBER 2...
...and the rest are distractions. Can anyone even remember a month or so ago, when everyone was bitching and moaning about Kerry having no momentum.

Stop the defeatist whining. We must keep our eyes on the prize!

Win another voter for Kerry today. It'll chase your blues away!

6. Do you remember Gore?
Won the debate, lost the spin becuase of how many desks were in a Florida classroom. Its the media. Take it seriously enough to fight it.

9. I retain my optimism and hope ...
The rest of us will, too.

It is one thing to be cautious in a battle, but confidence is required.

I also hope that we all remember the most glaring issue brought to so many people's attention by this round is that we are not being informed by Mass Media as much as we are being massaged and contained by it.

Media itself is a neutral tool. It can be used as a pure propaganda machine to manipulate and distract vast numbers of people. Conversely, it can be democratized to the degree that it works in the best interests of those it informs.

Conglomeration and the FCC have brought us, for the most part, a media that is the mouthpiece of the Corporate Elite. That is a problem that faces us in the future and it is our choice to solve it or allow it to continue as a means to shape thought and society, et al.

I know I am sounding Chomsky-esque here. Yet, the recent course of events has demonstrated that expert use of the media by campaigns that have direct access, control, influence and expert techniques, has overshadowed the salient issues and reality behind, or beyond, the spin. It is now to the degree that the process has become dysfunctional, as well as detrimental to a Democratic society - distraction sans substance.

How else could a man like George Bush rise to power while representing such a threat to every aspect of American society and policy. Qualifications and competency issues are filtered out and he is painted and seen as a hero to an almost divine degree. This was is a litmus test for the Information Age. The womb of media has given birth to a graven, distorted, politically Photoshoped image that his handlers have sired over the years and presented to the World as a factual matter.

Democratize the media!

10. I agree.....
Bush's lies, ignorance, negligence, etc.. has caused over a thousands of our soldiers deaths in Iraq, 911, jobs lost, health care lost by millions, more people in poverty, environmental laws not being enforced, outing a CIA agent, mediare fraud, etc.. and that is all okay now because Kerry said the "L" word?

Why didn't the media get all gungho when Bush's WH outed valeria plame or has their mediacre acturary lie to congress?

if people would sit up and take notice, they would see that these RW talking point aren't sticking.

Kerry thinks terrorism is a nuisance
Kerry can run but he can't hide
Kerry is a *gasp* liberal

But look what has stuck:
Bush and the bulge

Besides, all the RWingers are doing is proving their absolute contempt for gays. I say to them, "Bring it on!"

I got up early to see THAT poll? I might as well not get so involved in these polls until a few days before election day. As I recall, it even took Zogby until very late to show movement to Gore.
