Breaking News: Bush to Declare War on Massachusetts
In a dramatic development sure to impact on this November's Presidential Elections, and perhaps the ultimate October Surprise, WHOA News can now reveal that President George W.Bush is preparing to declare War on the State of Massachusetts, marking a dramatic escalation of long simmering hostilities against residents of the Bay State. An official announcement is expected within days, if not hours. In secret documents leaked to our reporters by disgruntled Pentagon hard liners who believe the pending actions fall short of what is needed, the President lays his case out to the nation for militarily confronting what he deems to be "the greatest Liberal threat facing the world today."

Although it must be stressed that documents leaked to WHOA News only include working drafts of the statement President Bush is expected to deliver to the nation in a prime time television address, the language used reflects a resolute Commander In Chief, who is certain of his convictions, and undeterred by the prospect of potentially igniting a second Civil War.

"For too many years, American Presidents of both parties have stood back and allowed a gathering threat to build directly on the border of our nation, some would even say within the borders of our nation. Massachusetts, despite it's coastal placement adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, stands at the furthermost outer left bank and continental shelf of American mainstream thinking. In fact it is beyond that bank. Massachusetts currently wades in a foul watery stew of Liberal Lies, Ultra Liberal Priorities, and Extreme Liberal Intent to undermine all that is great about the United States of America. My fellow Americans, it did not have to be this way.

The warning signs have long been clear. In 1972 citizens of Massachusetts stood alone among those political entities deemed responsible enough to be granted a State, in opposing the overwhelming mandate of the American people to reelect President Richard M. Nixon. Instead they fell under the malicious influence of a wild eyed Liberal prophet, George McGovern, a bitter man holed up in the arid deserts of South Dakota, whose hatred for the abundance of wealth and freedom of opportunity offered to more fortunate Americans, poisoned him against the American Dream. Since that day citizens of Massachusetts have ceaselessly worked to export their Godless, flagless, motherless, pieless, and greedless ideology to the neighboring states in their region, creating a security risk to the corporate pallors of our society that Vice President Cheney and I can no longer afford to ignore.

Some would say, why act now? What is different this year than in 2000 when I first ran for President, or in 1988 when my father decisively turned back another Liberal threat to our nations freedom emanating from the State of Massachusetts? I am fully aware that many members of the Liberal dominated national media will see this war only as a cynical election ploy, born out of desperation that the ultra Liberal Senator John Kerry might defeat me in this year's electoral contest. The foolishness of that statement should be apparent to anyone who knows me. Under no circumstances would I allow a Liberal like John Kerry to defeat me and the American People this November. My fellow Americans, in the greater war against Liberalism that I am waging, defeat was never an option.

No my only concern now is for the future of our great nation, as I call on all of us together, Americans of every respectable political stripe, to unite to defeat the deadly threat that rampant Liberalism poses to our very way of life. Conservatives, neo-conservatives, right wing conservatives, the religious right, fundamentalists, partially misguided neo fascists, center rightists, Zell Miller Democrats, Ed Koch Democrats, George Wallace Democrats, even moderates and Independents. Together we encompass the full range of American patriotism. I ask you all to put aside the differences that divide us, to join with me now in a larger crusade to defeat militant jihadist Liberalism radiating from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. When I took the pledge of office of President of the United States, I pledged to uphold our Constitution, I pledged to protect our nation from all threats domestic and international. And I promised to unite this nation in that resolve toward a better and brighter future. It is with those words still ringing in my ears, the very sound of Liberty ringing out, reaching out, to all freedom loving Americans, that I ask you to join with me now as we decisively crush our foes in Massachusettes.

The immanent threat to our freedom posed by Massachusettes is far greater than has previously been realized. I can reveal to you now that I am forced to act decisively today because our intelligence agencies have acquired conclusive evidence that Massachusetts has accumulated Mass stockpiles of weapons of Misinstruction. Deadly misinstruction that were they to be dispersed in schools and colleges around our nation, or released into the atmosphere through Liberal broadcasters, would invariably result in millions of new Liberal infections. The effects of these newly identified weapons of misinstruction are long lasting, possibly irreversible, as Federal election trends in Massachusetts have clearly established.

We are now in the post Internets era. Everything has changed. Liberal terrorists could rapidly utilize Internets to disperse deadly misinstruction should it fall into their hands. As a result our Armed Forces have been ordered to seal off Massachusettes and quarantine it's residents, with the exception of conservative agents acting undercover in Massachusettes who have all been inoculated against infection. And specialized agents, using obscure provisions of the Patriot Act, are exploring some technical thingies that will shut down only the specific Internets that Liberal terrorists are using to infiltrate our Democracy.

I also want to issue a special warning to the State of Vermont to cooperate in this quarantine against Massachusetts. Our intelligence agencies are fully aware that in the past Vermont has provided a convenient and significant transit route for Liberal terrorist agents from French speaking Quebec to flow across American borders into Massachusetts to further the international Liberal conspiracy. Your actions will be monitored closely and failure to cooperate with this Administration may result in the severest of consequences.

My fellow Americans, this country was founded on the principles of Liberty and Free Speech. AS your President I will do everything in my power to guarantee that Liberal terrorists will never succeed in undermining those basic freedoms. God bless the men and women of our armed forces who as I speak are moving into harms way as the struggle to liberate Massachusetts commences. And God Bless the United States of America."

3. I understand that the first phase of "Operation Liberal Vapor"....
....the Pentagon plans to soften up the resistance among Massachusetts residents by dropping 50 million tons of black tea from low altitude fly overs during a seven-day 24 'round the clock blitz over population centers in the state. Bush was over-heard to say to White House aids, "In a state one quarter the size of Iraq, this will be mission accomplished before they can breakout the scones!" (smirk, strut, smirk)

5. I think WHOA has been taken in by a bogus document.
Surely our prezdint wouldn't go to war without first employing sanctions and exhausting all diplomatic avenues.

6. I am told that WHOA stands by its sources
Sanctions are a discredited remedy, everyone know that Iraq was gaming the food for Oil program after all.

Diplomacy was tried and failed. The Republican Gov of Mass. (a CIA agent no doubt) already demanded that Kerry resign from the U.S. Senate for having the nerve to actively campaign around the country for the Presidency. When Kerry refused, that exhausted any lingering hope for diplomacy as a way out of this confrontation.

7. OK, one kick, because I think all means of showing...
...exactly how divisive a President Bush has become are important, including satire. It the public begins to react to each of Bush's rants about Liberals as weakening our national unity, that will begin to work against him in the closing weeks.

"United we stand, divided we fall" goes all the way back to the founding our our nation. Declaring Liberals as virtual enemies of the state undercuts our biggest strength, our unity as a people. Bush can be made to pay for that.

8. The Bush family and Massachusetts
Funny how they continually bash Massachusetts after sending three (or more) generations of their children to prep schools and universities located there. And wasn't Poppy born in Massachusetts?

13. yup, George Herbert Walker Bush was born in . . .
Milton, Massachusetts. And, get this -- Mommy Barbara and Daddy Bush met at Phillips Andover Academy, Andover, Massachusetts (http://www.andover.edu/about_andover/notable_alums.htm) while Daddy Bush was a student at the elite prep school. Mommy went to but didn't graduate from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts.

Mommy Barbara Pierce Bush has extensive family ties to Massachusetts to this day. In addition, the Pierce side of the family goes back to New Hampshire's own U.S. President Franklin Pierce. Several colleges in NH bear that family name.

Much of the Ellis family remains here in Massachusetts too. That's John Ellis Bush ("JEB" Bush). And, oh, yeah, John Ellis (who is Dumbya's first paternal cousin) lives here in Massachusetts; it was this John Ellis that was hired by Roger Ailies of Fox News who helped make the decision to finally (and erroneously) call Florida for GWBush on election night. The call, the first by any network, created the false impression that GWBush had won the general election in 2000.

GWBush resided in Cambridge, Massachusetts while attending Harvard Business School. GWBush resided in Andover, Massachusetts while rooming and boarding at Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts. It has been reported that GWBush was obligated to report to the Massachusetts National Guard to complete his duty but failed to do so.

Get the picture? Bush has extensive family ties to Massachusetts but uses Massachusetts' progressive politics for his own political polarized end; that is, to demonize Massachusetts as if Satanic. Why be surprised? GWBush is known for mud-slinging. Mud-slinging is how the Bushs' win elections -- from pitching mud at Mike Dukakis, slinging lies at Ann Richards, dumping on McCain's military record, to now flinging lies at John Kerry w/ a Massachusetts tag to complete the erroneous picture re Dukakis.

Oh, yeah, Andrew Card (GWBush's Chief of Staff) is from Massachusetts; Card was a GOP Massachusetts state representative from Holbrook for years.

(also, note my sig line re John Ellis)

18. Conservatives have already waged two shooting wars against Massachusetts
The first began in 1775, when the British King decided he didn't have to respect the rights of his subjects in the liberal hotbed of Massachusetts.

(I know it's fashionable with some folks here to give all credit for the outcome of that war to the French, but I'd suggest such folks would be well-advised to read a little about things like Trenton, Princeton, Valcour Island and Saratoga before making any more revolutionary war posts.)

The second began in 1861, when the Southern Slave Power decided it had had enough of Northerners refusing to give them absolute control of the American Republic and castigating them for their "peculiar institution". Of course that war wasn't waged solely against Massachusetts, but Massachusetts was regarded as the biggest source of irritation, hotbed of firebrand aboltionism that it was.

In both cases the conservatives ended up getting their asses kicked! So the moral of this story is, don't mess with Massachusetts. You hear that, you Lone Star yellowbellies! (no offense to democratic Texans intended)

24. yup . . . how very true . . .
that Southern "antebellum" crowd is STILL living a fiction. They still haven't swallowed their pride about starting and losing a Civil War.

So once AGAIN they are taking up "arms" of vocal out-cry in attempts to once again sic those "Northern Yankees." This time, it's eeeeeeee-yyyeeeeewwwwww those horrid "liberals" as The South tries to "rise again:"

"Hey, he's farther left than Ted Kennedy; he's sitting on the 'left-bank'," which is an ultra-rightwingnut attempted slur at Massachusetts and liberals and the French, a trifecta, all rolled into one!

Most importantly, these slurs are an attempt to deflect away from the insidious rightwingnut agenda, and don't you forget it !!!!!

Actually, so is Kerry. They're both descendants of the Puritan Sherman family that produced many famous people including the General who is so hated in the South.

here. Philip Sherman was from the prolific Yaxley Sherman clan that sent many members to Puritan New England and whose descendants include Mr. "War Is Hell" himself. Not that I'm calling the Bush clan obvious carpetbaggers or anything ;) .

23. Ummm. You know, it's kind of real, sort of...
Kind of like how an xray is a real picture of what's going on below the surface. It's certainly more real than most of the stuff cable news is airing. But the truth of the matter is, the link is in your mind. It's not much of a stretch to make this connection...

28. This time it's a cowardly Civil War that they want.
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 11:03 AM by Tom Rinaldo
It's all poll driven and a blatant manipulation of voters. People who identify themselves as "Conservative" clearly outnumber people who identify themselves as "Liberal". It's dueling brand names and the Conservative brand has done a better marketing job over the last 10 years so more people now "buy" into it. Political style. Conservative is the in vogue label that most people feel they should be seen wearing nowadays.

So Bush feels he's on solid ground debating over labels instead of, heaven forbid, issues. Because a lot of so called "Conservatives" strongly believe in the necessity of providing jobs with a living wage that can support a family. A lot of them want their children to grow up in a healthy environment. A lot of them think health care should be both available and affordable for all Americans. A lot of them think that piling on massive Federal debts that their children and grandchildren will have to struggle with is immoral. A lot of them think America shouldn't go it alone as the world's sole policeman against Terrorism. But God forbid somehow a "Liberal from Massachusetts" gets elected President. There goes the Republic.

Bush has always used divide and conquer tactics, and he tries to pick political fault lines that divide in his favor. But the strength of this country has always been, dating back to the 1770's, "United we stand, divided we fall." I don't blame "Southerners" for being anti "Northern Liberals". I blame cynical self serving politicians like the Republican wrecking crew running Bush's campaign for manufacturing the divisions between us that can help them cling to power.
