http://www.startribune.com/stories/587/5033610.htmlSen. John Kerry, D-Mass., appears to be holding his own against President Bush in the Midwest.
The Chicago Tribune polled likely voters in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Ohio last weekend and found Kerry with slim leads in all of the states but Iowa, where Bush remains ahead. The polls also found that Bush's approval rating is below 50 percent in all four states, a number that political analysts say is perilous for any incumbent officeholder.
The polls found:
• In Minnesota, Kerry led 45 percent to 43 percent, with independent candidate Ralph Nader attracting support from 2 percent.
• In Iowa, Bush had support from 47 percent of likely voters, compared with 45 percent for Kerry. Nader attracted the backing of 1 percent.
• In Wisconsin, Kerry held a slight lead over Bush, 47 percent to 43 percent, with Nader at 2 percent.
• In Ohio, where Nader's status on the ballot remains in question, Kerry held a lead of 49 percent to 45 percent
