Vice President Cheney and his wife quickly attacked Sen. John Kerry’s supportive comment about their daughter Mary during the last presidential debate, but they were silent when Illinois Republican senatorial candidate Alan Keyes denounced Ms. Cheney as a “selfish hedonist” for being gay.
John Kerry didn't violate anyone's privacy: Mary Cheney is an openly gay public figure. She is a major official in the Bush-Cheney campaign and has advocated for gay rights for years. Vice President Cheney has publicly mentioned her sexual orientation several times, and thanked John Edwards for his supportive comments about his daughter during their recent debate. John Kerry’s comment was obviously not intended with malice, but rather with kindness. I think that this fact is clear to the gay community and its friends.
I felt bad for Ms. Cheney when she and her partner sat on the sidelines watching, as the rest of her family joined her father on the stage at the Republican National Convention. Why didn’t they feel comfortable enough to be acknowledged along with the rest of their family?
Mary Cheney isn't ashamed or embarrassed about who she is. Why are her parents?

2. Cheney & His Ilk Started This Whole Thing...GMA |
|
No one would care if Cheney's daughter was a German Shepard had it not been for the right wing pandering of RoveCo that starts and ends with this moronic and totally unconstitution "gay marriage ammendment" and all the noise that resulted from it.
A majority of us don't care about his family...in fact the less we see and or know about them the better...as long as it's nowhere near public life or the national treasury. It's the Repugnicans who made this an issue and continue to push it...much to their own self-destruction.
There's no disention in our ranks over what Senator Kerry said or what Sen. & Mrs. Edwards have said, too. We know what they meant and where it comes from. There's not a vote that will be lost here...this is all the fighting going on in a vain hope by RoveCo. to limp into election day with a semi-unified and very scared party.
This is the latest implosion of the regime, that I predict will really start to unravel in the next two weeks. We're seeing the crows coming home to roost too fast these days...too much vindication of the corruption of this regime and the integrity of Kerry...I'm just hopeful enough has gotten through to cement the "weak-kneed" and really energize Democrats across the country.
If anything this is a diversion of a diversion of a diversion. How many of our own were killed in Iraq today? Where's the DJA? How many more people just fell off the unemployment roles? Nah, we need to witness the Cheney's disfunctional family discussed on our TVs (and Mary's probably the only sane one...since she doesn't come forward, I could say for sure). This is desperation...and it incredibly sad that people would be willing to exploit their own family for their total lust of power.
