Just got back from Barack Obama speech |
|
He's here in Las Vegas for a GOTV push (early voting starts tomorrow). Lots of local Dems talking about Kerry and Edwards. The crowd was fairly psyched up before Barack got up to speak -- afterwards, there ain't no way Kerry's gonna lose in Nevada, not with folks like Obama on our side. I hope he gets good play on the TV news tonight.
I've never seen a speaker that good, except MAYBE Bill Clinton. Flabberasted. Astounded. Amazed. This guy WILL be the president someday. You guys in Illinois are seriously lucky to have someone like him!
And tonight, Michael Moore...

I mean, of course, all of you stupid, idiotic, redneck, beer-gut luggin', donut-eatin', john deere cap wearin', pickup drivin (with Calvin peeing on #24 sticker), overall wearin', no teeth, Bush lovin' retarded dumbasses in the South that make it impossible for us civilized people to see good people live here. Damn you all to HELL!!!!!
Needless to say, I am jealous of you and glad you got to see a President in the making.

9. I have neither a Calvin sticker... |
|
...nor a desire to vote for Bush.
Otherwise, the part about "stupid, idiotic, redneck, beer-gut luggin', donut-eatin'" summed me up pretty well.
:D
I used to live in Texas, so, in the immortal words of both Bill Clinton and late night comedians, "I feel your pain."

10. Ahhh but I beg to differ Argumentus |

You can't be stupid or idiotic because you obviously know a) when to get out of a place and 2) to go see a rising political star when given the opportunity. :)
I refuse to leave my state. I instead insist that all freepers leave. I don't think I'm being unreasonable........

4. We are seriously lucky to have Barack |
|
And soon, the country will be serious lucky to have him as our president. He is AMAZING. Hopefully, he will inherit a country brought back from the brink of destruction by one very brave John Kerry over the next 8 years.

5. I keep playing a guessing game with myself - as to who will be Obama's |
|
running mate.
Some here have already projected Kerry/Edwards for eight years, then Edwards/Obama for eight years (to start folding him in), and then Obama/?.
When I watched him at the Dem convention, I was BEYOND impressed. What a sharp guy! Intelligent. Great speaker. Poised. Easy on the eyes. Really accessible - really connects. Hits all the proper notes (well, his stand on gay marriage needs a little work, but I guess you can't have everything). Upbeat, optimistic and cheerful. Someone who leaves you feeling pretty good about things, all told. I kept thinking - "BENCH STRENGTH!" WE'VE got the bench strength! What an all-star lineup! This guy is going all the way. He has TONS AND TONS going for him. I can't wait to see him do things on a national stage, after he wins the Senate. SO glad he's on OUR side. He's gonna go far. I was very proud of him. I thought he made a world-class debut. Particularly under pressure as he was.

7. In person, his speech tricks are more evident |
|
He riffs with the crowd, has great timing for applause and laughter and such. He knows when to shout and when to whisper.
More importantly, he knows what to say. Grown men were crying (in a good way) in parts.

13. He is really on the move--I just saw him last nite in Chicago |
|
Chris Heinz and Allysa Milano (sp?) were there stumping for him, too. Obama gave a real barn-burner of a speech that took us from laughter to tears (at least for me). He's going to be a Senator for all of America, not just us lucky Illinoisians.
