Sorry, but Elizabeth Edwards only went over the line of tactfulness. What she actually said was dead-on accurate, as anyone who has observed Liz Cheney's obvious discomfort when it comes to gay issues. The head of Log Cabin Republicans says that Lynn Cheney obviously loves her daughter. But clearly he can understand that there are parents who love their gay children yet remain very amivalent, or even embarassed or ashamed about them being gay. And there is obviously something about being gay that deeply disturbs Lynn Cheney.
