Telephone canvassing story

Here's one story of an SC Dem (a friend of mine) making contact with an Ohio Dem through the Phone Corps:

Just wanted to share my experience in one particular phone call I made last night to a woman in Ohio. She REALLY wanted to talk and I had time to listen. Her mom has Parkinson's, has left a bad situation in a nursing home, and her dad left his job to care for his wife full time. The daughter's quote on stem cell research was"We know it won't help my mom at this point in what is left of her life but we so much want it to help others". On JOBS: she(the daughter) lost her job as a secretary , has a 4 yr college degree, and has been going to temp. agencies to get work. She said that there are part time jobs available to her but 20-30 hrs, per week with no health care. She spoke about a lot of other issues but I think the one thing she said that will always stay in my mind is this. She said she felt like the Constitution was going backwards with this administration. (I didn't say this but I'm glad she is not in SC!!!!!). I hung up the phone feeling like I need to travel to one of the swing states to HELP!!!!!

I don't know whether the woman in Ohio was able to go canvassing or do anything more towards getting Kerry elected. I can tell you that if we don't try because we're afraid of "annoying people" (like another thread suggests) then we deserve to get beat.
