Sinclair to give Kerry equal time
Edited on Fri Oct-15-04 04:23 PM by kaitykaity
Just heard on Ed Schultz that Sinclair has offered
the Kerry camp equal time after the anti-Kerry movie

Kerry has three days to give them something to air.

Sorry, no link.

8. Going Upriver Doesn't Give Kerry Opportunity To Bash Bush The Same
way that the sinclair smear bashes Kerry.

Kerry shouldn't allow this to remain a referendum on HIM.

Other smart DU'ers pointed that out.

22. If no alternate reality is offered,
it will appear that he's trying to change the subject because he can't refute the smear.

6. Nah..give it to Michael Moore
Because of conservatives keeping farenheit 9/11 from running.
Kerry could state that he wishes to meet propaganda with propaganda.

11. That was my thought too.

Sinclair doesn't want to back down totally, but they
had to do something because the boycott is hurting them.

10. In fairness, the order of programming should be alternated
Kerry's film should screen BEFORE the anti-Kerry movie on half the stations, and should screen afterwards on half the stations.

Going Upriver is a wonderful choice.
It supposedly is a tremendously well-made film.

And people can distinguish nonsense from the truth.

15. I really want to
hear someone point out to these cretins that John Kerry is not responsible for all the bad things that happened to the POWs in the Vietnam War. He is not responsible for dragging out the war.

Honestly, these folks are projecting on to Kerry. The VC are the ones who did the torturing. Our Foreign Policy is what kept us in Vietnam as long as we were. John Kerry was one of the messengers for a whole movement.

I saw an interview with the director of Stolen Honor and he said something very bizarre. He said these men couldn't talk about this for 30 years. WTF?? Why the hell not? Who was stopping them?

16. They've said that from the beginning, haven't they?
They offered to have Kerry on TV afterward, to 'defend' himself, and kept claiming they had sent the offer to the campaign; but I recall hearing a Kerry staffer saying they'd received no such offer. I wonder if this is something new, and in any way a better offer.

26. Okay
That, potentially, is a better offer, if they have something they can use in just three days.

Even though he's being, in effect, forced into this position, it might actually work to his favor to have the last word on the subject as far as SBG is concerned.

27. Below this quote by Paul Alexander from Salon's war room
"Sinclair's using public airwaves to broadcast, at a politically sensitive time, an anti-Kerry message," says Paul Alexander, director of the critically-acclaimed "Brothers in Arms" film, which examines Kerry's experience in Vietnam, and casts him in a favorable light. "My argument is if they're going to air 'Stolen Honor' then they should run my film, and preferably in the hour right after it. I'm sending them a letter tomorrow demanding that." Earlier this week as the controversy brewed, a Sinclair spokesman told the New York Times the company would consider running a Kerry documentary from a different perspective. Alexander's offer may effectively, and publicly, call Sinclair's bluff.
