|
Edited on Fri Oct-15-04 04:40 PM by SangamonTaylor
saying that wolf's job is to call out bush and his distortion of kerry's statements by the bush campaign.
Of course, wolf is cutting him off.

2. There's something happening here.. |
|
What it is.. IS exactly clear.
The media's whoreishness is being exposed for all to see today.
First Terry Mac, then Jon Stewart and now Al Franken. All on CNN.

5. WHen asked about Mary Cheney |
|
McAuliffe responded by saying something like "But first we should discuss the breaking news that Karl Rove has just testified in the outing of CIA Agent Valerie Plame"
McAuliffe knows how to turn a defense into an offense. Many could learn from him if they stopped thinking they knew so much more than he did.
WHY Hasn't he been saying it for at least the last SIX MONTHS?
Ummm, the outing thing only began Wed night. It would have looked silly for him to be talking about it 6 months ago.

14. But Rove wasn't TESTIFYING 15 months ago--CNN should be covering |
|
this.
That's precisely Franken's point.

my post had nothing to do with what Al said I was referring to what someone said about McAuliffe in post number 5.
I absolutely agree that Rove testifying should be at the top of the news. My point is that this should have been at the top of the news 15 months ago and the top of the news every month since. Also Karen Kwiatowski and Sibel Edmonds! They should also be.
My point (that I didn't really make very well at all) is that McAuliffe and the people on our side don't insist that the television media cover the things that are important to the country. The GOP owns these bastards and the Mary Cheney thing is exhibit number 1.
I am absolutely thrilled beyond description with Jon Stewart's performance on Crossfire today. And it sounds like Al is doing his part too. The leaders of the Democratic party need to take a lesson from these guys. Props to Terry McAuliffe for doing the right thing today. We need tons more.

Can you please explain how Terry and the Dems are suppose to force the media to do something when the media is "owned" (your word) by the GOP?
I am absolutely thrilled beyond description with Jon Stewart's performance on Crossfire today.
Why? They achieved nothing. Everyone who watches CNN, and there are very few who do, already know about the news and have an opinion. They either knew the media are propogandists and agreed with Jon, or they're repukes, and they think Jon's a librul liar.
No one learned anything new and no one's mind was changed on anything. It was entertainment.
The other night, Kerry not only repeated bush*'s statement that he didn't care where OBL was, he got bush* to LIE about it in front of TENS OF MILLIONS of people, and you think Kerry needs lessons from Jon Stewart?
Meanwhile, bush* made a comment about believing the media ("Oh, never mind!") that was embarrassing. Do you think it would be a good idea for John Kerry to do something similar?

17. it has, but the state of journalism has declined precipitously |
|
What has changed is that comedians now must tell journalists to stop trying to be comedians and do their damn jobs of fact finding and truth telling.
