Jon Stewart, now Al Franken, now ALL OF US should hold media feet to fire.
Jon Stewart AND Al Franken today on CNN have been going after the media for not questioning some of the talking heads when they make rediculous claims like the whole "nuisance" and "global test" rhetoric being tossed around on the campaign trail.

I think the greatest strength of the Republicans is a complacent and abliging media. We REALLY need to keep the pressure up on the Mass Media to drill hard when politicians make such outragious claims. I think we all know which party relies HEAVILY on outragious claims and many times outright lies.

If our strongest talking point could be media responsibility on routing out truth than we would have a major edge. The truth about the issues is what Bush/Chenney is most running from and attempting to distort.

3. This is the ultimate counter to the upcoming swiftees ad
If Demicrats pressed over and over and over media responsibility in finding the truth and disavowing questionable and outright lies than we can do it.

If the media can be pressured through their own talking heads to seek the truth instead of just allowing Karl Rove talking points to be repeated unchallenged by the media itself than the Mass Media debate will no longer be accusation/debunking, accusation/debunking, accusation/debunking. We might actually have a return to journalism and turn around this atmosphere of everything goes unchallenged.

2. EVERYTHING the pukes say is a lie. Start with that premise. . .
MAKE THEM PROVE WHAT THEY ARE SAYING!!! They lie so fucking much I wouldn't know where to start disproving what they say.

4. Okay folks--here's what we need to do---
the latest Washington Post Poll shows that the Mary Cheney thing is hurting Kerry. We've got to make the media STOP talking about this immediately. We need to flood them with e-mails and ask them why is it wrong to say someone's a lesbian-it indicates that they themselves must be homophobic. Or something. But we need to make enough noise on a single issue and suggest another issue for them to talk about instead and we need to do it now!

5. Very bad idea
We need to flood them with e-mails and ask them why is it wrong to say someone's a lesbian-it indicates that they themselves must be homophobic. Or something. But we need to make enough noise on a single issue and suggest another issue for them to talk about instead and we need to do it now!

If we flood them with emails about Mary Cheney, why would they want to change the subject? If you want them to talk about a different issue, flood them with emails about a DIFFERENT issue.

8. Some people are working overtime to convince others
that the way to change the subject is to keep talking about the same thing, over and over

7. wrong, we need more talking heads pushing the truth issue
emails are ignored easily. if we can get as organized as the Republican Party is at talking points then we can really drive home the truth issue. outragous claims should not be taken lightly or even slightly challenged. the media has a responsibility to ruthlessly debunk outright lies and outragious claims. without lies and outragious claims, the Rove machine looses most of their ammo. Karl Rove has ALWAYS used outragious claims and whisper campaigns to bury their competition. If we can organize talking heads to confront the media while live on their own TV shows than we might be able to influence them to seek thr truth moreso than just giving airtime to outragious claims and lies.

The Truth might actually set us free.

I REALLY believe what Jon Stewart and Al Franken did today were some of the most powerful statements we can make.
