Nevada judge declines to reopen voter registration in Vegas area

(UPDATES)

LAS VEGAS (AP) _ Registration won't be reopened for Clark County
residents whose voter applications might have been destroyed by a
Republican-funded group.

Clark County District Court Judge Valerie Adair says she saw
evidence of just two Democratic voters who might have had been
disenfranchised by having their registration forms ripped up.

She says that doesn't justify reopening the entire registration
process.

She also notes that every registration form contains a
disclaimer advising registrants to submit their completed
applications in person or by mail -- or risk not being registered
if another person fails to turn in the form.

The deadline to register for the November second election was
Tuesday.

Nevada Republican party officials are calling Democratic
accusations of deliberate voter registration fraud "baseless."

They say they've also found bogus voter registration forms
submitted to the county registrar by canvassers hired by groups
affiliated with the Democratic party.

2. Typical repugs...try to suppress democracy. Saddam used to say
98 99 pct of the people voted for him. How ironic B/C would like to fix the elections just like Saddam did! Troops are dying supposedly to bring democracy to Iraq, and they work like hell to suppress it here.
