2. I'm going to knock on doors
This is the first election I've ever been this involved. Unlike many of you all here, I have never been a partisan. Been registered as a Republican for all my life. But when they nominated Bush in 2000, I was aghast, and I started paying attention.

This time around I was involved from the primaries. I was for John Kerry waaaaaay back - liked him in 2002 and solidified on him by January, 2003.

This is the first year I will ever be voting FOR someone for President. The old "Who are you voting against" was my mantra for, well, my whole life. This year is different. And I'm very VERY against Bush. But I know in my heart, deep down, that John Kerry can heal this country of the deep and devastating divide it has been falling in since 1994.

I've given money - starting with the primaries. I've phone banked. And this weekend, I'm going to knock on doors.

What a change for me!

9. What had he ever done
that would warrant thinking he COULD be President other than having a President for a dad? Governor of Texas? He was a puppet there for the rich and powerful.

Republicans aren't evil. REAL Republicans just have a different idea how you go about getting the same goals accomplished. W wasn't a Republican, he was almost a cartoon image of a used car salesman. All folksy while stabbing you in the back.

For example, running on having passed a "Patient's Bill of Rights" in Texas, when he'd vetoed it twice and let it become law without a signature? That showed me what kind of a man he was. And that's just one example.

7. Yes....I am...and at the very least folks could tack flyers to telephone
posts. you only need a few in strategic locations. We all should be doing whatever we feel comfortable with...But, DO SOMETHING!

Even the smallest thing will help. Flyers left on doorsteps with "Kerry 10 Point Talking Points," going on your County Dem Website and looking for phone bank or drive folks to the vote opportunities.

Putting together signs and delivering them is another thing we Dem headquarters need help with on the county level.

Whatever it is...just think of something creative and do it. It's the last "push" these weekends.

11. Or phone call
If you live in the sticks like me, to help other people get to their canvassing locations.

Or call your local Dem Club. In my small town there isn't a centralized event, we do it on our own time. Just help, that's the main thing.

12. I have to say this (bad experience with DNC volunteer today)

I've given every cent I could spare to K/E, the Dem congressional committee, MoveOn, and lately OpTruth.

Today I was accosted -- the right word -- on the street in Manhattan (of all places) by a Kerry volunteer who was rude, obnoxious, and downright turned me off. He acted so morally superior, and when I declined to talk further or to give him money (how did I know he was legit in the first place) he actually insulted me.

With friends like this working for us, we don't need enemies. I was so turned off. Of course I'm voting, of course I'll keep working every way I can for Kerry. But I left that encounter with a bitter taste in my mouth.

If you work for the campaign, remember that getting in people's faces and acting like they are stupid or haven't given enough or aren't as committed as you is not a good strategy for winning enthusiastic supporters.

13. Yes.
We should be polite as volunteers.

Obviously, to our fellow Democrats, but also if someone says he or she is voting for Bush, say "thanks" and move on to the next person.
