"Fahrenhype 9/11 is not a political movie" My response from Overstock.com
Edited on Fri Oct-15-04 09:52 PM by RationalRose
have a good laugh. And please bombard these bozos with emails. They sent THOUSANDS of copies of "Fahrenhype 911" to our troops. Here's the letter:

Dear XXXXX:

Thank you for letting us know of your opinion regarding Fahrenhype 9/11. We are sorry to hear that of your decision not to purchase from Overstock.com in the future as a result of our donations to groups supporting our troops. However, we periodically receives requests to donate items to our troops. When the requests are reasonable and when we can accommodate them from items in stock, we try to meet the requests. We have donated many products to our troops during the recent wars, including requested movies such as Fahrenhype 9/11, just as Michael Moore has sent many thousands of copies of Fahrenheit 9/11 to our troops.

In addition, in our view Fahrenhype 9/11 is not a political movie - it promotes neither the right nor the left, but rather addresses issues raised in Fahrenheit 9/11. It does not promote or denigrate either of the candidates for president. Again, our decision to carry and donate Fahrenhype 9/11 is purely a business decision and does not reflect any political statement whatsoever.

Respectfully,

Jonathan Johnson
VP, Corporate Affairs

4. I'm not saying that they have done anything wrong.....
I am saying that Kerry needs to borrow from the Johnson playbook and "harrass" them for doing this just how his FCC should "harrass" Sinclair for their actions.

3. ridiculous
"Farenheit 9/11" was a political movie and, if it's intention is to address claims in "Farenheit 9/11," then "Farenhype 9/11" is most definitely a political movie.

9. He's completely full of shit, at least Michael Moore..

At least Michael Moore has the balls to honestly say 'yes' his movie has an agenda.

Too much hypocrisy and lies to bother responding, but the part about it being a "business decision" is what jumps out.

Lets take the lying hypocrite for his word.. We should make sure that it’s a business decision that is bad for his business.

I'll spread the word, as well. "Not left or right...does not reflect any political statement"....laughable, absolutely laughable.

12. yeah, right
It would be interesting to have someone here view this movie to determine if it indeed is not 'political', but the thought of giving Overstock the cash to purchase it is loathesome. Maybe we should ask them for a 'donation' so we can determine for ourselves exactly what it is. The ads for it certainly make it appear political.

Screw 'em. And for what it's worth, the woman in their ads annoys the hell out of me. She looks demented, like an axe murderess. She makes my skin crawl.

15. This is what I sent them
Dear Mr. Johnson,

it is with deep saddness I was made aware of the fact that you are shipping this so-called movie to our troops - FahrenHYPE 9/11. A friend of mine shared your email, where you say you don't believe it's a political movie, but I disagree. If it addresses Fahrenheit 9/11, which is a political movie, then in turn it is also a political movie. But putting aside that fact, it's webiste states that "..Heading the search party for the truth is Dick Morris...". Are you familiar with Mr. Morris? He shamefully resigned from the Clinton administration for allegedly sucking on a toe of a prostitute, and this is the type of people you want to be associated with? It is your company, and you are free to do what you want, but you depend on customers. You lost one in me, and I'll be sharing this story with others.

Sincerely...

**********************

Now, I'm a little blurry on Dick Morris toe sucking incident...was it a hooker?
