Flu Vaccine Shortage May be Bush's Undoing!
People in America are finally pissed! Is it gas prices? No. Is it the war in Iraq? No. Is it the deficit? No. Is it prescription drug prices? Nooooo . . .

It's the fricking flu vaccine shortage. People are just outraged. You talk to the person on the street this week and they are only concerned if they, personally, are going to be able to get a vaccine.

Bush's "Chicken Soup" cure isn't going to cut it. When people are finding out that this drug importation was allowed, the HHS Department didn't bother to make sure we had backup supply and the fact that those at risk may never get a vaccine is really a hot button topic right now.

Most businesses around here are not offering it this year.

This may be Bush's Waterloo!

5. Sad to say, this is more proof
that people don't care about issue's, unless it directly affects them.

6. If you're not taking prescription drugs - check out natural and
homeopathic prevention remedies. They work, but on a subtle level so they don't do well when the body is on prescriptions.

7. He said Canada's prescription pills might kill you but he wants our flu
vaccine!.....In one of the debates Bush said he "wanted to make sure Canada's pills didn't kill you instead of cure you" when asked about them being imported into the U.S.A...On Friday he said he was working on getting flu vaccine in from Canada....FLIP-FLOP????

9. His mis-"speaks" during debate about flu vaccine
Refered to Chiron as "english" company -- Chiron corp is US Company with headquarters in CA, manufacturing plant is in England

http://www.oaoa.com/news/nw101604a.htm -- A supply breakdown at one of the two flu vaccine manufacturers, Emeryville, Calif.-based Chiron Corporation, has cut the nation’s vaccine supply to 40 million doses, half of the needed 80 million, Solla said.

Said FDA shut down the distribution --- England's FDA equivelent shut it down

http://washingtontimes.com/op-ed/20041014-084642-7681r.htm -- It is looking more and more like the violations that led British drug authorities to nix half the U.S. supply of flu vaccine were mostly process problems, not widespread contamination of shots. In other words, the company that made the vaccine was not trying hard enough to keep its factory proficient and pristine

Said companies won't make vaccines because of fear of lawsuits -- http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/041014/nyth205_1.html

---President Bush also missed the mark when he said that frivolous lawsuits were causing manufacturers to get out of the business of making vaccines. Bernard said, "While frivolous lawsuits may be a problem in other parts of the healthcare system, vaccine manufacturers and health care providers are specifically protected from legal action by the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program. That said, I would caution our leadership in Washington not to consider vaccine injury cases -- including those related to mercury -- as frivolous. We are talking about real children who have really suffered or died, and that is never a trivial matter.

"The decreasing number of vaccine manufacturers is not a result of lawsuits, but rather a direct result of the 15-year trend of major pharmaceutical companies merging," explained Bernard. "That the flu shortage announcement came during a Congressional hearing questioning the delay in getting the Thimerosal out of flu vaccines may have deflected the media's attention from the topic, but coincidence has not been lost on parents who want safe, effective, mercury-free vaccines."

http://www.hrsa.gov/osp/vicp/INDEX.HTM -- On October 1, 1988, the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) was established to ensure an adequate supply of vaccines, stabilize vaccine costs, and establish and maintain an accessible and efficient forum for individuals thought to be injured by childhood vaccines.

------------

so bush* knows squat about the situation or he LIED (again and again)

11. The Kerry campaign needs to go with this.....
government has an important place in the distribution
of health care. Privatizing all medicine undermines
dependability because big business will not do anything
that is not profitable. Back up plans cost money (they failed)
quality control costs money (they failed).
furious george and his right wing gang think you can
privatize everything, medicine, education, military support,
social security.....all this needs to be tied into the failure
of this flue shot scandal to help people see that some things
are too important to trust to the private sector.
