Oregon ballots hit my mailbox yesterday (looks like the mail-out started dead on time), so I had to fill mine out as soon as we got home from dinner.
It goes to the Clay St. PO this morning. And yes, I signed the outer envelope (failed to do that once, and got my envelope back to sign two days before the election. Not taking any chances this year).
Oh yes - I voted for Kerry/Edwards and several other good people. Voted against several bad ballot measures (including Oregon Amendment 36) and voted for several great state and local candidates.

1. I'm not voting by mail but early voting starts Monday in Texas. |
|
I'll be teaching all day Election Day so I think I'll vote early and I can't wait. It's a good feeling when you know you've done your part. In my case, a vote for Kerry will just add to his national mandate but a vote to re-elect our state representative will be very important.

He's a good man. My Wimberley mother in law is a big fan. I'm too busy ticking off my memorial neighbors with my Kerry sign to head up there much, unfortunately.

20. Patrick is a great guy and is well-liked in the district. |
|
He is a friend of my daughter's from high school so we've known him awhile, though casually until I started working in the campaign. He has the nicest parents you would ever hope to meet and he is a genuinely caring, intelligent person. I'm very hopeful that he will be re-elected!

5. Got your ballot already, huh? |
|
Guess that's an advantage of being in the big city! I'm over on the east side of the mountains, just got Voters Pamphlet-2 day before yesterday. Not that a need to peruse that one too carefully--know how I'm voting on the candidates. Like you, voting no on 36, probably no on the rest, too.
I heard the other day that election officials can start opening and counting the ballots as soon as they're received. Didn't much like the sounds of that, but maybe it makes sense. Gotta keep the faith!
Good for you for voting early and voting right (correctly, that is)! Look forward to getting my ballot today. GO KERRY/EDWARDS/WYDEN!

11. I'm in Portland and haven't received my ballot yet. |
|
Damn! Because of all the Repuke voter purges, I'm really nervous this year that something has happened and someone de-registered me or something. We did get one voter pamphlet, but I don't know if it's for me or my spouse. I'll feel a lot better once I get my ballot and put it in the mail.

I guess we should call by Wednesday if nothing comes. I'm personally handed mine into the elections office in Multnomah Co. I did that in 2000.
I'm looking forward to the elections officials saying they have ALREADY received a record number of ballots.

I was hoping today. Gotta' get back on the phone soon, before people mail in those ballots and encourage the rest to get them in quickly. Dem landslide, that's what we want.

Just got my ballot, 2 votes for Kerry! Wohoo! My husband just dropped them off at the drop box. On a scary note, my son didn't get his ballot. I don't know if he's updated to get things at his apartment or what. Yikes! Hope there wasn't a voter purge that we didn't know about.

6. I got my voter booklet last week. |

Although I'm voting straight Dem, I still need to go over all the amendments and initiatives as well as the judges. I was going to vote absentee but decided to do the punch cards (and make sure there are no hanging chads afterwards, of course.)
Amendment 36 has reared it's ugly head here as Amendment 3. I saw my first 'Vote Yes on Amendment 3' sign the other day, but drove by the house last night and it was gone, LOL. I asked my daughter if she'd taken it but she denied it.
My sister just moved to Medford, Oregon and is excited to vote via mail. I was talking to my nephew last night (he's 13) and apparently there is a nasty conservative faction in that town. He was telling me how all the Republican signs were intact but all the Kerry/Edwards and Dem candidates signs he's seen so far were crumpled or damaged. One had been cut cleanly in half and taped back together. Anyway, the poor kid is about the only liberal in his class and is called, 'Kerry Fairy'. It amuses him more than anything.

I wish I could vote but all I can do is encourage others to vote. I don't understand how people can take their right to vote for granted. I guess we all want what we can't have (well, for now).

I'm on the westside 'burbs of Portland, OR and haven't got the ballot yet. I usually wait until the last few days to turn in my ballot, but its going out early this time around!
For any fellow Washington Co. (maybe all of OR), take a look at the first 3 paid "In Favor" for Measure 36 in the Voters Guides sent by the state. We laughed ourselves silly on them.

Glad to have another Oregonian on board. I'm east of the mountains, but fully expect to get the ballot today. If not, the county clerk gets a call Monday morning! Yes, I read the first 3 "in favor" statements re M36 in the guide. Very funny! I am encouraging people, no matter how they feel on the issue, to vote NO. I'm very jealous of our state (and fed) constitution, and this is NOT worthy of an amendment!
Geez...!
