3. I saw that last night. When I heard the guy say that, my jaw
dropped. Of course, they did what the WH asked. According to the electoral map they were showing, if Ohio had been in Kerry's column, Kerry would have shown to be beating smirk in electoral votes. Can't have that now, can we?

7. OK, fuzzy memory here, was operating with very little sleep
(we did the Texas freeway blogger thing on Thursday and Friday night, will post more about that later)
Anyway, the show was about electoral votes and showing a map by candidate/electoral votes. The map had smirk leading by enough to win. It also had Ohio in the Bush category. The guy discussing the map indicated they had been asked to keep Ohio in the smirk column. If Ohio had been in Kerry's column, Kerry would have been shown to be ahead.
Sorry that is all I got.

11. CNN's talking head...
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 11:30 AM by rndmprsn
on CNN's electoral map said that he was contacted by bush's campaign manager to NOT put OH in kerry's column...kerry's internals have him up 5- points in OH, anyhow...the repub logic was that kerry is pulling ads in WVA and WVA and OH are so similiar that kerry just HAS to be behind in OH...he never mentioned thier own internal poll numbers, so i took that as they too had kerry ahead.

now...i lived in OH for over 10 years and i'll tell you this...OH and WVA are NOT the same...especially northern OH, which has the bigger cities and industry...it sounds like desperate logic to me.

yeah i thought it was kind of funny that the bush campaign personally called and asked that it not be put in kerry's column...CNN's talking head all but said that they would have put OH in kerrys column had he not gotten the call from the bush ppl....media is getting prety bold, they are ADMITTING to following orders from the bush campaign...the talking head then said that if the polls in OH stayed the same then the next report would have it in kerrys column...unbelieveable.

12. I am a Buckeye
There are an awful lot of repukes here.....my sister lives in Licking county and she sent me an e-mail where she saw on the local news just about all her county are supporting the idiot. They've aways got that idiot ahead in the polls here, too. Media whores, repuke pundits Whitehouse spin.. all favorable to chimpy. The only thing we can hope for is new voters taking a clean sweep for Kerry. I will never understand how someone as goofy acting, divisive, arrogant, and sooooo destructive to our nation can be so "popular". If chimpy had a D behind his name he would have been assassinated by now. :grr:

19. transcript here
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 12:08 PM by shamrock
Here is a link to the transcript and an excerpt:

MERCURIO: The Bush campaign knows that they need Ohio. I mean, as we've all heard the statistic, historically no Republican has ever won the White House without winning Ohio. So I talked to -- or we talked earlier today to Matthew Dowd, who's Bush's chief pollster, who urged us to leave Ohio in the Bush column. We decided not to do that. He made two points. He said, first, tracking polls that they've have shown that Bush has gained actually since the debate, which is hard to believe because most of the polls that I've seen for the three debates show that ...

show them leading by 5 with Bush fading.

I can see why Dowd is concerned.

Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 12:52 PM by Bush was AWOL
They quoted someone from within the Kerry campaign saying that Kerry is up 5 in their tracking polls, and Bush is fading. The Bushie didn't deny it, but said he was confident about Ohio. I'll look for the article.
