Star Tribune endorses Kerry

<MINNEAPOLIS - The Star Tribune is endorsing John Kerry, saying he can restore fiscal responsibility and international cooperation that have been lacking under President Bush.

The endorsement, in early editions of Sunday's newspaper, included sharp criticism of Bush's term. The newspaper said Bush has risked the United States' ability to lead in the world, protect its citizens at home, and preserve liberties. Bush has used shifting justifications for the war in Iraq, the newspaper said, and "has governed with mendacity and secrecy at home as well."

the newspaper said Kerry has a sound plan for health care, and praised Kerry's intention of rolling back tax cuts for wealthy taxpayers. It also said Kerry "would reverse Bush's devious dismantling of environmental protections."

"Kerry knows how to effectively join with U.S. allies to leverage the vast power of international will," the editorial said. "... Kerry's approach demonstrates maturity, nuance and thoughtfulness. Those qualities don't always play well in campaign sound bites. But they will serve America exceedingly well in the Oval Office.">

The St Paul Pioneer Press endorsed Bush in 2000. We'll have to wait until October 31 to see if they're fooled again.

I'd also like to see a broader ownership of those stations.

Their CEO plainly stated he supports Bush because its good for their company.

I think they would mostly fall on the repuke side, question is whether Americans would see through that. I think they would based on the popular movement against the new FCC rules last year.
