NY Times Buries Story on Karl Rove Testimony
The President's top political adviser gets hauled before the grand jury investing the Administration's outing of a CIA agent, and where does the NY Times place the story? On a page FAR back in the National section, a page normally devoted to stories on religion. I'm surprised them didn't put it in the obituaries section, since the Times is obviously trying to kill the story.

And to ad insult to injury, just take a gander at the headline:

"Bush Aide is Said to Have Testified in Inquiry"

EXUSE ME????? Karl Rove DID testify. There are no ifs, ands or buts about it.

Because the Sinclair Broadcasting Group's targeting of Kerry and the New York Times' deliberately feeble coverage of Bush, I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that the First Amendment is seriously overrated.

1. Good points!
The NYTs certainly does not want this story to get the attention it deserves. Those interested in helping in a DU effort to get the word out on the Plame case are invited to join us at "Steel & Glass" on GD.

3. well, I gotta agree w/ you about the buried placement of this
item; however, the wording is correct. You see, who testifies u/oath b4 a grand jury is not published information. Is not public knowledge. However, if the witness wants to say something, or if someone sees the comings and goings of the witnesses, okay. Other than that tis supposed be secretive.

Thus, the NYT's wording is correct.

5. I didn't see this on TV last night either, only here on DU threads
But we sure did hear a lot about Mary Cheney's 'outing'. What a crock. Cable TV is covering it today along with the new Natl Guard records found, but of course it is midday Saturday with no one watching now.

6. They are like most papers...lots of fluff on the front page and the real
news is buried. It's maddening and sickening and whorish.
They buried on the back pages the story about how we almost had the entire planet destroyed when the Russians just about nuked a Norwegian missile launching a weather satellite in 1995; the front page had some meaningless fluff.
