That if we give up some important issue like abortion that's used as a wedge, that it would disarm the Republicans. Actually, for them, this is not about issues but about power. If we gave up abortion it would be about as effective in stopping the Republicans as giving up the Sudetenland was in stopping Hitler. They would just go to the next thing down on the list.
