January 12, 2004
For Immediate Release
Des Moines, IA –
Tomorrow morning, John Kerry will have a discussion with Iowa Veterans in Waterloo about issues ranging from health care, disability pay and pensions, and military benefits. At the town hall meeting, Kerry will take questions and discuss his pledge to be a “veteran’s veteran” as President, keeping vital promises to America’s veterans and military families.
Members of the “Veterans Brigade”— a group of fifteen veterans which includes Kerry’s crewmates—will join Kerry at the town hall. The Brigade is traveling across the state meeting with Iowa veterans to listen to their concerns.
Luis, Ben, Bill and Richard Bolaños, four brothers from El Paso, TX, also will join John Kerry at the town hall. The Bolaños are the only family in the United States to have four brothers serving in Vietnam at the same time.
Veterans from across the country are mobilizing in Iowa to support their fellow veteran, John Kerry—gathering in homes, writing letters, making calls, hosting community meetings, and screening the documentary about John Kerry, “Brothers in Arms”—to rally support for Kerry.
