Interesting quiz for Catholic voters
http://www.votingcatholic.org/

This is a group that obviously acknowledges that Catholics who vote should be concerned with more than just abortion and stem cell research and gay marriage.

I took the quiz - came out 100% in every category opposite to the Bush administration and between 60 and 100% concurring with Kerry and with the Bishops overall (but not necessarily the same ones).

Tells me what I already knew of course - the Bush administration is out of sych with Catholic theology except on those very narrow issues, on which the Bushies pander to the religious right.

Even if you aren't Catholic, it's an interesting little quiz.

1. It really is very helpful. I knew that the claims

that it would be a sin for a Catholic to vote for a pro-choice candidate were totally off the mark, but it was interesting to take the quiz and read through all the quotes.

We progressive Catholics should speak up and let the right wing know that being pro-life is not just about abortion and euthanasia -- it is every bit as much about capital punishment and war -- and that all God's children deserve a decent life, a life not strained by poverty. Catholic social teaching is about a hell of a lot more than abortion!

2. I know you know this about me but
It was progressive Catholics that helped make me a staunch liberal democrat especially on economic and foreign policy issues.

4. Amen to that!
Taking care of the downtrodden was the hallmark of Jesus's messages. The Bushies want to squeeze the middleclass and abandon the poor. If that's Christian, then we better talk.

3. I came out -50% to -100% Bush
The -50% was in Social Justice where I was 100% with the bishops and 60% with Kerry. All the others were -100% from Bush. I had 50% to 100% concurring with Kerry. It was the "Promoting Family Life," which oddly was equated with "Marriage" in the poll, where I was -100% in opposition to all 3 because all the questions defined marriage as between a man and a woman. I think that was a failing in the poll. There was no positive choice for marriage between gays and lesbians.
