The search for yard signs
led me to county Dem HQ this morning, where the person before got the last signs. Someone there led me to a woman nearby who was doing Kerry signs out of her house. She had a crew of 10 in her driveway feverishly putting the signs on posts, and probably had a hundred signs or more, and people showing up, a la "if you build it, they will come".

The Dem HQ office is next to a high school football field, and their morning precinct walkers were there- I would estimate ~100 cars for the precinct walk.

A lot of energy in the local Democratic Party. And the kicker is this: I'm talking about Texas.

2. Nah...
Not Texas. Not this time. But it may soon become fashionable again to claim to be a Democrat after Bush is out of office.

But those of us who are pro-Kerry are getting more and more active every day. I can only imagine what it's like in swing states.

5. How about Congressional seats?
Anything to look forward to there? Is Delay going to get re-elected?

6. If you want to know about specific races, you may want to go to the Texas
...board. I think my local congresswoman, Kay Granger, is unlikely to be unseated by Felix Alvarado. Alvarado seems to be a nice enough guy, but not a very compelling candidate.

The interesting race is between Democrat Martin Frost and Republican Pete Sessions, both of whom are running for the same congressional district as incumbents as a result of the resdistricting. Frost is currently trailing in the polls, but who knows? Perhaps Kerry coat tails could turn the race.

4. Win this one for us, okay?
Maybe it'll break the spell down here.

My son, by the way, will start college next year. And he is pushing pretty hard to get to a school north of the Mason-Dixon Line.
